If you’re looking for a ray of sunshine, then you’ve found it in Misha and her yellow wedding dress. This glorious day is just ready and waiting to brighten up your Tuesday. Right in the heart of the Peak District, Misha & Henry said their I-do’s during an outdoor wedding. Complete with plenty of DIY aspects and homemade elements, such as the lemon & poppyseed cake, to the table plan, to Misha’s gown (made by her friend, Kath), everything yells ‘this is who we are as a couple’ and we just love it! Ensuring their suppliers were as local and sustainable as possible, they opted for seasonal flowers picked less than 30 minutes away, alongside locally brewed beer! All perfectly captured by Recommended Supplier, Bowl Of Corks Photography.
We looked at previous weddings held at The Gathering for inspiration (including one featured in Rock My Wedding). With The Gathering being a rural and unusual venue, we thought it made sense to use suppliers who were familiar with the stunning setting to get the most out of the day. That's how we found our photographer Archie who captured the day beautifully.

My dress was made by Kath, a friend of a friend who lives in Manchester. She's not a professional dressmaker, but she's incredibly talented. When I asked her if she would consider making a wedding dress for me, she jumped at the opportunity straight away! It is the first wedding dress she had ever made, but she did an amazing job. I knew I wanted something quite simple in design, in a bright, rich yellow. Kath found the perfect fabric and stuck to the brief perfectly. I've had so many compliments on the dress - it was completely unique.
What your guests will really appreciate is a day that reflects who you are as a couple - so don't get too bogged down worrying about what you think is expected of you! Want to wear a yellow dress? Do it! Don't want to do a first dance? No Problem. At the end of the day, they're coming to have a good time and the importance of those details rapidly fall away on the day itself, so don't compromise too much when it comes to what's important to you.
Making the vows that we had written ourselves in front of all of our friends and family was incredibly emotional and almost surreal, after months of planning and one postponement. We were so happy that Karen (our celebrant) convinced us to do the handfasting too - it injected fun and drama into the ceremony and made for the perfect photo! We couldn't have imagined it better - it was meaningful to us and completely personal.
