Hannah & Jak's wedding at Recommended venue, Launcells Barton, is something else! Their love story is also something a little different. Only three weeks after meeting, Jak suddenly became paralysed from the waist down due to an autoimmune disease where he was given a 3% chance of walking again. But after 6 months of incredibly hard work both mentally and physically, Jak was able to leave the hospital and regain his ability to walk again. In 2020 Jak asked Hannah to marry him and knowing that they could walk down the aisle together and have their first dance was the best feeling for them. The couple wanted their day to feel like a real party from start to finish and it certainly lives up to expectations! Especially when they also picked Recommended supplier, Papier, for their stationery and Recommended supplier, Prezola, for their gift list.
Try to be as authentically you as possible. It is so easy to get overwhelmed with inspiration and "in" things of the moment, some of which will suit you perfectly but some may not. We kept most details of our wedding to ourselves and our suppliers, one reason being that we wanted the whole wedding weekend to be a surprise for everyone, and another being that too many other opinions can be very overwhelming and stressful. Be confident in your decisions and don't doubt yourself. You have made these decisions as a couple and for a reason.
Hannah & Jak
Hannah & Jak found Launcells Barton on Rock My Wedding and chose it because it matched the vibe they wanted - natural, beautiful and elegant. The couple chose to marry in their favourite place, which is where they first holidayed as a couple. Launcells Barton is a wedding venue steeped in history, with a manor house and barns. They decorated the venue with white, green and dusky pink flowers to complement the green landscape and aged stone and brick walls. To remember those that couldn't be with them on the day, they had some calligraphy candles with their names on, placed on the tables they should've been sitting on. Hannah's grandad joined the wedding via Zoom! Their grandma (aged 93) also travelled to Cornwall for the wedding in a helicopter!
The key thing Hannah & Jak wanted their day to be about was friends, family, good music and even better food! They prioritised those things with their budget. The couple chose to include sushi! When Hannah visited Jak every Wednesday at the rehabilitation hospital, they ordered takeaways and sushi was their fave! They had dessert canapes based on more of their favourites. They had After Eights and Terry's Chocolate Orange. Yum! Everyone could mingle, listen to music, and party the night away. The groomsmen got naked and the bridesmaids performed a rap. So, we think it is safe to say everyone partied sufficiently at Launcells Barton! Hannah did all this in a stunning Jesus Peiro custom high neck wedding dress with an open back and completed the look with a Jesus Peiro pearl veil.
We both had big groomsman and bridal parties so for us, getting ready in the morning was one of the highlights! We pretty much had a party drinking champagne, laughing, tears, terrible singing and dancing. No nerves just complete excitement. Watching all our friends and family after the ceremony, chatting, eating and drinking in the beautiful sunshine and grounds, was everything we pictured when we first saw our Launcells Barton wedding venue, all coming to life! It was epic. Dish Cornwall was the most incredible people to work with, our DJ absolutely smashed it, and the dance floor was pretty much full the whole night. Sam Tanner, thank you so much for saving the day, you hero!
