Who said a lace back wedding dress and black-tie theme with cosy candlelight and tuxedos doesn't belong at a town hall ceremony and a pub reception? Not us! Allow Emily and Nathan to prove otherwise. It's full of grandeur, full of love, and full of incredible portraits by Recommended supplier Steph Newton Photography. Wait until you see Emily walking up the iconic Old Marylebone Town Hall steps with her veil billowing behind her. And don't even get us started on the sparkler capture.
We are from Staffordshire but chose London as it is special to us. Nathan and I often wander down to London, to take in the sights. We've seen a few weddings in the city and knew the vibe would suit us too. Inviting close family made it feel like we were all on an adventure together. We met at The Coral Room the evening before for cocktails, and then the next day had the ceremony. We then took the double-decker bus to The Swan At The Globe. Walking to the venue along the river with everyone was so much fun.

My lace back wedding dress was from the first boutique I went to. It was just me and my mum as the appointment was a last-minute cancellation. The dress was the second dress I tried on, and I instantly knew it was the one. I called my fiance's mum to see the dress with me again that evening. When I was trying the dress on, she was telling me the story of how she had found her wedding dress. It was also the first shop she went to, and the second dress she tried on. I decided it was fate, especially as she has been happily married for over thirty years.
Fun, modern, simple, relaxed, warm and comfortable was our brief! Deciding to get married only a few months before, we knew we didn't want a big wedding, as neither of us like being the centre of attention. It sounds ridiculous but our main focus was that everyone would have a good time, so good food and drink was key to us. We also have small children so we wanted them to feel relaxed and comfortable. Creating a warm and inviting vibe was important to us so they would enjoy the day too.
We chose our suppliers by scrolling through Instagram and finding real weddings for inspiration. Images from online platforms helped us to show our suppliers what we were aiming for. It also helped that our close friends are wedding stylists! They made our vision a reality! I discovered our photographer Step on Instagram, her whole page is a vibe! Not too formal, and always in the right place at the right time! She captured the day in the most magical way with such an eye for detail.
