When you think of castles, you think of fairytales and happily ever afters. Amelia and Bruce's Drumtochty Castle wedding encompasses that and more. Amelia wears the perfect princess wedding dress, flanked by her bridesmaids in white gowns, and her groom in a tartan kilt. There's also a bagpiper to further honour Bruce's Scottish heritage, a classic wedding car and lots of live music. Capturing this beautiful love story was Recommended supplier, Emma Pilkington Photography in her dreamy fine art photography style.
Bruce is Scottish and I'm from Sydney, Australia. So we celebrated in true Scottish style with a piper, whisky and ceilidh dancing. However, we also incorporated some 'Aussie elements' including eucalyptus in my bouquet, summer cocktails. Plus, classic Australian songs on the bagpipes and the Australian flag flying at the front of the castle! We also tried to ensure the day reflected "us" as a couple. We both love music and entertainment, and therefore hired gospel singers, outdoor games and a magician to ensure our family and friends had a great time during the drinks reception.

The styling/vibe of the day was a classic romantic Scottish castle wedding, with green, gold and white accents. Drumtochty Castle and St Palladius Church are set in a wooded glen and the surrounding area is beautifully green and picturesque (it could be out of a fairytale!), therefore I wanted to ensure that our flowers and styling reflected this. Our dress code was Scottish black tie, and our guests looked amazing dressed up in different coloured kilts, gowns, and fascinators/hats.
We found our suppliers via the internet and lots of social media research! Our venue, Drumtochty Castle, also gave us a list of local suppliers which we tried to use and support. As we had to postpone our wedding three times due to the pandemic, some of our suppliers had to change, however, we were grateful for sites like Rock My Wedding that provided so many amazing options and recommendations. We found our photographer Emma Pilkington on Rock My Wedding, who captured our day so perfectly.
Try to relax and enjoy the process and don't get worked up if things don't 100% go to plan. Your family and friends want you to have the best day of your life, and won't notice if something minor is missing or not in the correct place. Also, try to be as flexible as possible. In the Covid era, things can change with short notice and therefore it can be good to have a backup plan or the flexibility to go with a different supplier or option.
