This shoot was inspired by vibrant and colourful folk art, aiming to bring the feel of a lux destination wedding to a traditional wedding location in England.
Venue
The historical wedding venue of Chiddingstone Castle is set in 35 acres of stunning Kentish countryside and is home to a fascinating collection of Japanese, Egyptian, Buddhist and Jacobite art and artefacts. This delicate balance of tradition and eclecticism made it the perfect backdrop for us to bring a vibrant palette of colour and new ideas to a traditional setting. I wanted the shoot to inspire future wedding couples, and give them the courage to paint outside the lines of traditional wedding themes and colour schemes. Destination weddings might be on hold right now, but you can always bring a taste of the wider world back home and inject colour into your day with your wedding dress, flowers and accessories. We created a modern vibe in a traditional wedding venue-and the contrast is amazing! Selecting suppliers that can also use colour in the same way as me was vital: so I got My Lady Garden, Aimee Willow and Nevie Pie involved as soon as I could!'Pink Palm Events
Inspiration & Styling
With styling by Pink Palm Events- Ashleigh is known for her use of colour and innovative and creative ideas for the modern wedding couple. Ashleigh, the stylist says: 'I'm so inspired by colour, so when Rebecca Carpenter shared her vision with the initial mood board it was right up my street! Colour is so important, it speaks to who we are - we're all so individual and using colour turns a wedding from something you're inspired by, to yours. I developed the mood board, bringing the deep green to keep the palette grounded, a range of bright complementing colours through orange, pink & red and a pop of blue as a contrast. The tablescape has a deep, rich green as the table runner to elevate the colours in the tablescape and it works perfectly against the grey stone of Chiddingstone.Ashleigh Leigh at Pink Palm Events
Chiddingstone Castle grounds was the perfect location for this colourful folk art wedding inspiration. Providing a beautiful historic backdrop where Rebecca Carpenter Photography and Pink Palm Events could showcase these beautiful BAME models in colourful dresses and accessories, surrounded by vibrant flowers, decor and details. We love every single thought that has gone into making this editorial so special, from the string flower heads through to the makeup. we’re certain there is something here to inspire everyone. Plus, who doesn’t want to channel their inner Villanelle and dance around in a pink dress (we’ll leave the assassinating to her though!).

Colours
The colour palette predominantly of hot pink, red, orange and yellow inspired the flowers by My Lady Garden, who created a bespoke hanging garland for the ceremony area using fresh carnation flowers and palm leaves painted in pinks and oranges. The same flower theme adorned the flower crowns for the brides and table seating area in a variety of colours, textures and sizes. This colour palette also influenced the hair and makeup by Zoe from ‘Knot your Average Bride’, Zoe consulted on the makeup for the brides, with strong eyebrows, bold lips and palette of blush and rose on the face.Ashleigh Li at Pink Palm Events
