Butley Priory is a fairytale wedding venue located in the Suffolk countryside. And although the Abbey is refined and steeped in history, the fashion, flowers and accessories at this elegant inspiration shoot couldn't be more modern and refreshing. With crowns and headbands, plus, floor-length and thigh-skimming gowns we're spoilt for choice. Now, if we could steel the floral centrepieces for our Easter tablescape, we'd be very happy indeed!
All of the florals used throughout this editorial were grown by Emma from Passion Flowers By Emma Spowage at home in her garden and allotment plot. We wanted the florals to be seasonal and sustainable. This very much led the way for our colour palette. Although there were pops of colour in the florals we wanted to keep the overall colour palette soft and romantic, in keeping with the neutral stone and interiors at Butley Priory.Natasha - The Wildflower Wedding Planner
The stationery provided by Peonies and Paperclips bought everything together, featuring soft neutrals, a pop of pink and luxurious details such as the hand-torn cotton paper, delicate wax seals, foiling, vellum and tassels. Fen from Mon Annie Cake Design took inspiration from the architecture at Butley Priory and the flowers used by Emma which she replicated in the form of sugar flowers to create the most jaw-droppingly stunning 3-tiered wedding cake.
The tablescape design featured multiple bowls of beautiful blooms taking centre stage, with a dramatic installation around the fireplace, creating a statement backdrop to the wedding breakfast. We used luxury linen from Just 4 Linen, and tableware carefully curated by Hélène Millot. Including vintage French glassware and gold cutlery which oozed timeless beauty and refined elegance.
Our Bride wore two couture gowns, designed and hand made by Kate Edmondson. The first look featured an embellished gown with sheer sleeves, paired with hand-crafted heels by Diane Hassall. Beautiful diamond jewellery was provided by Lily Arkwright who specialise in moissanite, lab-grown diamonds. And romantic accessories from Hermione Harbutt including the Cordelia tiara, which finished off the stylish and graceful look.
Our HMUA, Charli Smith via BOTIAS, was unable to apply makeup due to COVID-19 restrictions at the time of the shoot. But, coached our bride to create a fresh and dewy look for the romantic daytime celebrations, and created a simple half-up hairstyle accentuated by the beautiful Hermione Harbutt tiara. Our second look was more striking. With our bride transforming to an up-do and a bold red lip, accessorised with an embellished black headband and black drop earrings by Hermione Harbutt to set-off the short and sultry dress. Again, designed by Kate Edmondson, for her party-ready look.
Our final setup for this editorial was designed to replicate an informal gathering on the grounds. The day after the main event, where couples can revel in that newlywed glow over a grazing table and cocktails with their nearest and dearest and make the most of what their stunning venue has to offer.Natasha - The Wildflower Wedding Planner
