Recommended photographer Catherine of Boho Chic Weddings and accessory designer Heidi of Glorious By Heidi fell in love with, real couple, Char and Grace's authenticity and love story. Wanting to increase diversity within the wedding industry Catherine and Heidi asked Char and Grace to be part of their Autism marriage inclusive wedding inspiration. The results are incredible, with coloured wedding dresses, and natural hair by Recommended HUMA Chrys Chapman and makeup by Made Up by Cathryn. But, most importantly awareness for neurodiverse weddings and couples.
This Autism marriage inclusive wedding inspiration took place at the historical and extremely stylish Thicket Priory in the North Yorkshire countryside. The venue was chosen because of its elegant dramatic feel, with unique style, beautiful grounds, a lake and a bandstand! Plus everyone who works there is lovely.Catherine May - Boho Chic Weddings
The colour scheme is based on the iconic fragrance, Pomegranate Noir by Jo Malone. Showcasing two strong, authentic women. One is an autism activist, showing individuality and beauty, and care for their love. As a whole, we need to see more diversity within our industry. Ensuring all human beings in our society are represented. This Autism marriage inclusive wedding inspiration is a small step in the right direction.
We wanted to inspire all couples to be their unique selves when it comes to their wedding. Both outfits were designed and made by independent wedding fashion designer, Rose Savage. One is a three-piece, the other one a black dress. The makeup was natural glamour, and the hair made the most of the women's glorious locks. We love Afro! We also champion women who don't want to conform to the old-age, often sexist standards of hair removal.
Host-educator of UK Black Pride, Char, is an autistic Jamindian. Encouraged by a matchmaking friend, Char and her partner, Grace met in London for the Moon Exhibition, but, due to it being busy, went for lunch instead, talking for hours. Warming to their authenticity and love story on their Instagrams, we approached them with our vision.Catherine May - Boho Chic Weddings
As a mum to a child with Down’s syndrome and autism, I’m saddened by how rarely my daughter sees people that look like her in the media. As content creators it’s our responsibility to be part of that change.Heidi - Accessory Designer
In 2020 we wrote our first diversity pledge, since then we have shared several updates about our progress. We will continue to learn, re-learn, and strive to ensure everyone feels represented on Rock My Wedding. We can't thank Photographer Catherine of Boho Chic Weddings and accessory designer Heidi of Glorious By Heidi enough for choosing our platform to share their vision of autism marriage, Pride and inclusivity.
