Naomy & Luke truly did things their way with this Airbnb wedding! Renting a 5 bedroom house in Clapham, and marrying at Chelsea Town Hall, their day was a small and intimate family affair. Wanting a rustic vibe and nothing too high maintenance, they spent their evening playing a game of ‘Werewolf’ narrated by Naomy’s older brother. Wanting to cater to both their cultures, their food included West African and British plates, alongside the most beautiful cake! We also love the decor, which was put together by the bride & groom, focusing on gold accents and leafy foliage. Oh, and a moment to appreciate Naomy’s sophisticated Whistles wedding dress? Gorgeous! All beautifully captured by Recommended Supplier, Imogen Eve Photography.
We chose our suppliers depending on whether we felt they could help us with our vision for the day. As we wanted a small wedding, we needed suppliers who could bring a more relaxed and natural vibe. We used search engines; Facebook, Instagram and wedding platforms, such as Rock My Wedding, to get a good idea of what is out there. We had a tiny budget, so we naturally prioritised value for money. However, we wanted to 'splurge' on photography, food and a cake.

Apart from tying the knot, there were a lot of 'favourite' moments; seeing our families get together and having a good time. We also enjoyed our guest's reactions when we changed into our traditional Ghanaian wear after the ceremony. The night finished with a big game of 'Werewolf' (story telling game) around the dining table, narrated by my older brother - the best man for the job. We also received some lovely words of congratulations from the neighbours the following morning.
We absolutely loved our wedding cake, made by Nastassja. It's a bit different with bold brushes of navy and gold. The flavours were raspberry, white chocolate and pistachio. We've vowed to order a smaller version for each anniversary - that's how much we loved it. Overall, we were so happy and chuffed doing it all ourselves. From setting up the decor, hiring tables and chairs, creating our own games, doing a big Tesco shop and working closely with the AirBnB host - it was a huge success and (almost) everything went exactly to plan.
Naomy: Prioritise you and your partner every step of the way. Don't make halfhearted decisions when it comes to things that matter to you as a couple. And don't forget to enjoy the planning. Even though it can all be a big headache at times, it will be over so quickly. Luke: Don't feel pressured by other people. On the day, just do what makes you feel happy. Don't let the tricky parts get to you and enjoy the moment.
