Megan & Scott's day at Pimhill Barn was full of music, dancing, food, excellent drink and a big Scottish party! Pimhill Barn is a blank canvas that you can truly make your own. A lot of barn wedding inspiration the couple saw was very rustic, but they decided to do something a bit different and go for classic and minimalist styling. Everything is in shades of white including the dried flowers and white pampas grass. Plus, they had plenty of disco balls! They just jazz everything up! Some of this gorgeous decor was provided by Recommended supplier, Bobbi Wren Events. This day is a masterclass on how to have a barn wedding without being rustic! Capturing this beautiful day was Recommended Supplier, Gina Fernandes Photography.
I used Instagram initially to find suppliers showcasing their work and to get a vibe for what was on offer. That’s how I found our wonderful photographer, Gina. We also used Rock My Wedding to find some suppliers.
Megan
Megan & Scott's fave part of the day was their wedding ceremony. They both said it was so personal and moving with their song and reading choices. They had a male voice choir performing Yellow by Coldplay and chose Captain Corelli's Mandolin for their wedding reading. When Megan & Scott both read out their vows, they felt like they were the only two in the room. Besides, the ceremony the decor at Pimhill Barn was mostly made by Megan! She wanted to have a dream day and took inspiration from us and Pinterest to customise everything. Scott is from Scotland and so Scottish traditions and music are featured throughout the day with kilts, bagpipes and the traditional quaich during the ceremony. They also had a (highland) lawn games sign that read “By order of the Peaky Blinders - no f***king fighting!”. Can we get one for our front garden or would that be unneighbourly?
Megan did most of the decor herself including the flower arrangements, buttonholes, and vinyl signage and painted over 100 bottles! Wow! A true artist! The bride said the whole process was time-consuming but very rewarding and she enjoyed every minute putting their dream day together. Megan & Scott met on Tinder and so she made signs for the toilet doors with their old Tinder profile pictures. The couple displayed family wedding photos by their guestbook and had a small photo tribute to loved ones who couldn’t be with them. The decor at Pimhill Barn heavily featured their beloved cat, Simba. They named a cocktail “The Simba” as a welcome drink and named the table signs after Simba too. Besides all the good DIY, Megan got her Maya Deluxe bridesmaid dresses and bridal bag from pre-loved sites. She even got pearls from Hobbycraft to DIY her wedding shoes, too!
Spend your budget wisely on the things that matter to you. If you’re on a budget (as we were), work out what you really want and spend your money on that, good suppliers really do make the day and then save on the things that are further down ok your priority list. For example, we didn’t hire a wedding car and my brother-in-law drove us between the church and the barn!
