Have you ever considered opting for bridal separates instead of a dress? We certainly are, after seeing Laura's sparkly Needle and Thread top and skirt separates that are such a statement. Laura and Alex's intimate micro wedding was their perfect dream day. They spent their wedding day walking around their hometown, eating good food from their favourite independent restaurants and spending time with their closest friends and family. It certainly is a special one, especially as it was shot by, Recommended photographer, Caitlin + Jones.
I think it is easy to feel lost planning weddings. Seeing the diversity of modern weddings gave us the permission to be our authentic selves and create a day that reflected us as much as possible.
Laura & Alex
Laura & Alex really wanted it to feel like any ordinary Saturday. They walked around their home city with their dog (who looks so adorable in these photos), drank at the pub with friends and family, listened to live music and ate good food from their favourite independent places. Ordinary had been a bit on the back-burner for this couple. After living in a pandemic for the past two years, we couldn't think of anything more special than being ordinary with our loved ones, too!
Laura opted for a Needle and Thread top and skirt two-piece, which she looks absolutely beautiful in! Laura knew she wanted something that had a vintage feel, that would allow her to dance and something she could recycle. She's been able to re-wear the outfit already! She also chose high street accessories including a headband from John Lewis, pearl earrings from Oliver Bonas and a pearl necklace gifted by the groom on the day from Lily & Roo.
Following their ceremony at the registry office, the couple enjoyed a mini pub crawl through the city of York and had their wedding breakfast at one of their favourite restaurants. Laura and Alex are huge foodies, so the food and drinks were an important part of their day. After their wedding breakfast, they got pizza deliveries and amazing espresso martinis. The party then went down to the Micklegate Social Bar for a jazz band. Besides the stunning food, the couple wanted all the autumnal vibes. Lots of pumpkins were featured throughout the day and became props for drunken photos at the end of the night and a newly-created game called, Pass the Pumpkin! Sounds fun!
Laura's favourite parts of the day: I have two! The first is walking around part of the University of York (King's Manor) for a couples' photo session. We both met at the University of York, so many of our first dates were revising for exams in the library together! It felt really special to go back. The second was when we cut the cake and handed it out to our guests. It felt really wholesome.
Alex's favourite parts of the day: Watching Laura walk down the aisle in the Needle and Thread top and skirt. And then at the pub after the ceremony, we snuck a moment to ourselves and had a shot of Cafe Patron together!
