Working in the wedding industry and within the NHS this couple are all too familiar with the implications of the global pandemic, from both sides of the coin. This didn’t stop them from saying f*ck you COVID and getting married anyway! They bring personality, joy and an abundance of style to their micro wedding at High Billinghurst Farm in Surrey. Including riding around on a quad bike, taking our their frustrations with a cake smash, and sipping Prosecco from a motorcycle! It’s all pure goals.
What Made Our Day Unique
Postponing twice we decided f*** you covid and planned a small, registry office, wedding with our most important people. Planning our micro-pandemic-wedding we were in a unique position because I’m an A&E nurse and Chris works in the wedding industry. We were devastated to postpone but we truly saw the impact of the pandemic from all sides, as a nurse working through it, and Chris seeing the wedding industry struggles, but also being a 2020 couple desperate to get married like thousands of others. Our day was unique by making the most of what we were allowed to do.Vicky & Christ
Real groom Chris works at High Billinghurst Farm wedding venue in Surrey, so celebrating their wedding there was like a home from home. The cosy barn offered the perfect backdrop for their intimate reception decorated with glass charger plates, perspex signs and coloured candles. And the courtyard and gardens, allowed them to ride around on a quad bike with a ‘finally’ bunting sign and tin cans clattering behind them. What a moment. And what a couple!
Inspiration & Styling
We wanted it to be abit edgy and cool, we never wanted a traditional wedding. But we didn’t really have a vibe or a theme for the day, we just made it personal to us. Choosing our venue was easy, Chris works there, we’ve seen hundreds of weddings there and were excited for it to finally be our turn! Catering was Caper and Berry, their food and service is always brilliant. We found our florist, Lucy at a wedding fair and loved her creativity. A big supplier for us was a great photographer, it was really important to have amazing photos to look back on. We found Emma on Rock My Wedding, her photos looked so fun and stylish. We loved her edgy cool style. Can’t recommend her enough!!Vicky & Christ
Favourite Moments
Arriving on a quad bike was really fun! Our portraits with Emma was Brilliant. we had been worried about it because we’re both awkward in front of the camera but she made us so comfortable and we genuinely had such a laugh. We did a cake smash. Having cancelled our “big” wedding twice, we had quite a lot of anger to get out. A normal cake cutting didn’t seem appropriate for this pandemic-micro-wedding. It was hilarious and such a good stress release! Ultimate favourite moment was looking down the table and seeing our friends and family all together – really special.Vicky & Christ
Advice
Sadly with the covid restrictions, we weren’t allowed a band, we were absolutely gutted about this as we love the dance floor and is probably the one thing we were missing from our day. If we had been allowed we had a brilliant band, Coyote Party Band, lined up for our big day and we can’t wait to hopefully use them for a big party in the future.Vicky & Chris
