What Made Our Day Unique
A dear friend acted as a celebrant, with another friend doing a speech in the ceremony. A close friend drove dad and I to the wedding, with a playlist Tom had made (the makeshift chauffeur also had novelty hat and gloves). A late grandparent had bought Tom a case of port when he was born, which we served after dinner as a nod to them. In addition to the food and the fairy lights, everyone commented on the band. We rang in the new year dancing on the bar with a big brass band count down! The whole day was honestly more fun than we imagined. We both felt the most relaxed after the meal and just had the time of our lives on the dance-floor! The band came into the venue one by one playing their instruments and it was so much fun to see everyone's faces when they realised what we’d organised. One of our guests came in military dress and we borrowed his sword to open some champagne in the courtyard (and a few of the guests had a go too) which was completely spontaneous and one of my favourite moments.Sasha & Tom
Inspiration & Styling
I loved the idea of getting married on New Year's Eve, with sparkles and glamour! I wanted everyone to have a chance to dress up, so we opted for black tie, including black bridesmaid dresses. I had imagined opulent colours meets Great Gatsby, so opted for jewel-toned flowers and a red lip for me. Fairy lights were mandatory! I found the blue jackets for both of us by chance wandering the Boxing Day sales, which matched in with my shoes. Apart from the colour accents, we kept things simple with fairy lights, candles and a bit of metallic.Sasha & Tom
We just can’t get enough of wedding lighting and especially a fairy light curtain! It just brings so much warmth and glamour to the celebration! We just love them… if you do too and fancy some more inspiration take a look at this real wedding with botanical styling and a fairy light curtain.
