A lace Abigail Westrup bridal gown + Recommended venue The Giraffe Shed = a whole lot of fabulous. We know we're always going to love a wedding where 'fun' was the key element in the planning process. Emily & Ian's wedding is more than just fun, though. It's fun, stylish, personal, quirky, beautiful... Overall; pretty dang good. The vibrant, carefree, fun-loving energy seeps out of each photo, making us all very jealous that we weren't there. And we have Recommended supplier Photos by Hash to thank for that. The couple wanted to bring the final colours from summer and entering autumn into the forefront. So, that they did - specifically with their incredible florals, from Recommended supplier Pheasant Botanica.
Neither of us had preconceived ideas of what we wanted on the day. But we definitely wanted it to feel like us. We took lots of our own furniture and decor from home to the venue, wrote our own vows, both made speeches (as well as my bridesmaids) and my brother walked me down the aisle. The resounding feedback was "this whole day is just so you". That meant so much. We also didn't have a rigid order of the day which we had to stick to, but Han (from the Giraffe Shed) made sure everything ran smoothly!

Emily had everyone's jaw on the floor when she stepped out wearing that incredible lace Abigail Westrup bridal gown. An off-the-shoulder moment with full-length sleeves and lace detailing, it's a show-stopper of a dress. Off-the-shoulder wedding gowns are flattering, elongating, and give you a stunning silhouette all day long. These kinds of dresses provide as much versatility as they do beauty. Lest we forget the lace! Girly yet graceful, fun yet chic, classic yet quirky, lace can do it all. So choosing a lace wedding dress was a perfect choice for this fun, energetic wedding. Emily's accessories matched the dress perfectly, tying it all together for a cohesive, classy and all-around stunning bridal look.
The couple decided to go for a pink/green/Childish Gambino kind of vibe for their big day. Having seen him in 2018, Emily & Ian have shared some of their core memories together as a couple listening to Childish Gambino. So they knew that their music choices were important. They had "Valentine in the Summer" on their wedding banner, from his song "Summertime Magic". And to make it truly kismet - Emily is now pregnant, expecting her own Valentine this coming summer! I'm not crying, you are. Ian is a graphic designer and Emily is a lover of all things bright and bold colour-wise, so they knew that was how to let their personalities shine through their theme - with brilliant and vibrant colours all around!
Think about you as a couple and nobody else. Reflect on what you value and how you can instil that in your day - this could include sustainable suppliers, specific readings or songs, shunning archaic traditions...but essentially you want the day to reflect you as a couple at that point in time (and not everyone else around you!).
