When Gilda & Shayan set out to plan their wedding, they dreamed of a celebration that blended their Persian heritage with the rustic charm of a destination wedding in Puglia, Italy. Over the course of three unforgettable days, this Southern Californian couple brought their vision to life with olive trees, vineyards, and the breathtaking Italian countryside. From a spaghetti night welcome dinner to a stunning ceremony under ancient olive trees and a final farewell pizza party by the pool, every moment was infused with intention, culture, and joy.
If we had to choose a favourite moment, it would be in between the ceremony and the reception when we were taking our couple photos. During the pictures, a dark storm cloud loomed over us, and we saw lightning! We thought the party would get ruined since it was all outside, but the second we finished taking photos, it started to rain for just about ten minutes, and then the storm completely passed, and the party started as planned! Plus, I hear it’s good luck to get rain on the bride's dress, and the storm clouds made a pretty awesome photo backdrop.
Gilda & Shayan
Instead of just celebrating over one day, Gilda & Shayan had a three-day destination wedding in beautiful Puglia! Hailing from Southern California, this couple wanted to have a Persian wedding in an Italian style. They wanted “Simple yet sophisticated, rustic vibes” while also encapsulating that dreamy destination wedding vibe. The first welcome night was a spaghetti night in the vineyard, while the wedding ceremony was among the ancient olive trees. The final day was a pool party celebration with a pizza party for the final goodbye. What a wedding! “We got to integrate our Persian culture with a traditional Persian ceremony, where we had a sofreh aghd.”
Gilda & Shayan kept things as authentic as possible but still wanted to bring the party with specific playlists and a DJ who played Persian music and Latin house! “We were very specific about our music and gave our amazing DJ super specific playlists and instructions, and he absolutely killed it! We had certain expectations for the vibes throughout the three-day wedding weekend, and he went above and beyond, and the guests absolutely loved him.” The guests told Gilda & Shayan that the day felt like a concert. Is it possible to have FOMO for an event you were never invited to? Because we definitely have that. Your music choices shouldn't be underestimated!
Our advice would be to have fun with wedding planning! It will inevitably get stressful, and things will go outside your budget, and opinions will clash but try to enjoy every minute and let all the details go. During the actual wedding, try to be present and have fun! Don’t forget, the crowd vibes off the bride and groom :) so if you are enjoying yourself, it will show, and people will enjoy themselves too.
