Pink Disco Wedding At City Hall In Dublin

Photography by Mark Horton Photos

Weddings are often a carefully orchestrated dance of tradition, precision, and, let’s be honest, a touch of stress. But when Steph & Colm set out to tie the knot, they had one mission: to throw out the rulebook and have the best time of their lives. Spoiler alert: they absolutely nailed it.

As a seasoned wedding photographer, Steph had seen it all, the good, the bad, and the overly choreographed. She knew exactly what she didn’t want, which was a day dictated by rigid expectations. Instead, she and Colm set out to craft something that was truly them. Of course, we’d recognise that killer confetti shot anywhere. Only Recommended Supplier, Mark Horton Photos, could be responsible for wedding photos this cool. The couple also had their groomsmen suits from Recommended Supplier, Dobell!

As a wedding supplier (I’m a wedding photographer), I wanted our wedding to be a little different than any other I had attended so that there was less expectation of how things should go. I love that we did it exactly how we wanted and had the most fun ever.

Disco Wedding With Brass Band Parade

Forget the nervous shuffle down a carpeted aisle, these two took it to the streets. Literally. Steph, accompanied by her bridesmaids, made her way to the ceremony through the bustling city, turning heads and setting the tone for the day. And just in case that wasn’t grand enough, they followed up with a brass band-led procession that shut down traffic and had passersby spontaneously joining the celebration.

Describing the wedding’s vibe in one word? “EXTRA.” But if you need a little more detail, think: classic, grand, and timeless black in City Hall, paired with modern bursts of colour, disco balls, and an energy that could rival a festival. It was a fine balance between elegance and all-out party mode, and these two did it in style.

Their ceremony music alone tells you everything you need to know about the mood of the day. The brass band played the Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love” as Steph walked in, before signing off with Curtis Mayfield’s “Move On Up” to kickstart the festivities. And then? A street parade to Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love.” Because obviously.

Unforgettable Moments & Last-Minute Panic

Out of all the unforgettable moments (and trust us, there were many), the highlight of the day had to be the confetti-strewn, brass band-led parade through the streets. If you weren’t invited, you probably still felt like you were because this was less a wedding and more a public celebration. Guests, random pedestrians, and anyone with a heartbeat joined in swept up in the absolute magic of the moment.

When a wedding photographer gets married, you know they’ve seen it all. So, Steph’s advice? Do what YOU want. Even if it sounds bizarre, even if no one has done it before, just go for it. Find great suppliers, trust their magic, and most importantly, stop agonising over the colour of the napkins.

Also, pro tip: don’t, under any circumstances, leave ring shopping until the day before your wedding (we’re looking at you, Colm.) What initially seemed like a charming, sentimental idea quickly turned into unnecessary stress, with the added bonus of permanently reminding them of their last-minute scrambling. But hey, at least they got them in the end, just in time for the “I dos.”

A Black Tie Dress Code Is Just Going To Do It For Us Every Time! So Timeless!

Our favourite moment of the day was definitely our street confetti and brass band parade. We will never forget the energy and buzz from the short walk through the streets with all of our guests and any part of the public who fancied joining in! The vibes were unmatched.

Steph & Colm

The ceremony wrapped up with a reading of Whitney Hanson’s The Wedding Poem and a traditional Irish blessing, setting the perfect tone for a lifetime of love, adventure, and probably a few more last-minute ideas from Colm. Moral of the story? Weddings should be whatever you want them to be. And if that includes shutting down a city street with a brass band and making ring shopping a race against time, then so be it. Steph & Colm wouldn’t have had it any other way.
