This classic and romantic wedding at Pennard House is simply breathtaking! Complete with modern touches and a glamourous beaded wedding dress you absolutely need to see, Heather and Christian's wedding is certainly a dress to impress moment. Using our Recommended venue, Pennard House, this couple framed their whole day around the beautiful setting. The couple also used our Recommended supplier, Marcus Rice Photography who has done an amazing job at capturing all the vibes on their magical day.
I think we overlooked how special the actual ceremony would be for us both. I walked down the aisle to ‘Here Comes The Bride’ on the harp and I just couldn't stop smiling the whole walk! Christian's favourite moment was also turning around and seeing me walk down the aisle, and as cheesy as it sounds, I think it was the moment we had finally waited for. Three years after getting engaged, we were finally getting married! The sun shone down on us all the whole ceremony and we just felt so blissfully happy!

Don't get too caught up in the small details. Chances are, as lovely as they are and as much thought as you've put into them, most of your guests won't notice and you likely won't on the day either! We tried to put more emphasis on the bigger details such as food, flowers and entertainment and ensuring everyone had a good time together rather than creating too many little things for guests to do i.e. photobooths, guestbooks etc. Try to enjoy the planning process as much as possible - you will miss it once it's over, I promise! We also did lots of research into each of our suppliers before booking with them, looking at their work on other platforms where possible and reading reviews.
The couple wanted an elegant and classic look with a modern feel. Heather never wanted anything too ‘trendy’. The main inspiration for the wedding came from both the venue and wedding dress; two of the first things the couple found. Pennard House wedding venue is a Georgian manor in the Somerset countryside. It gave the wedding that very classic and romantic feel. The luxury wedding venue is just a stone’s throw away from Glastonbury. The wedding dress had a vintage silhouette but the head-to-toe beadwork gave it that modern edge. The dress was complete with an open back and a small bow and a pearl-embellished veil. The venue was doused in toffee roses and beige and rust flowers.
Heather and Christian had quite an unconventional speech list at their Pennard House wedding! Heather's stepdad did a lovely speech followed by Christian's amazing groom's speech, all before starters were served. After the main course, the two best men did a joint speech, followed by Heather's mum who finished off the speeches with such a fantastic, funny yet heartfelt speech. The couple worried about fitting in so many speeches, but it was such a lovely personal touch! Christian's mum did a reading of 'Boats' by J.Raymond which was a perfect fit. The harpist played 'Waltz of the Flowers' by Tchaikovsky for the flower girl and bridesmaid's entrance and 'Can't Help Falling in Love' by Elvis whilst they signed the register. 'Here Comes The Sun' was the exit song, which was very fitting as it was so unexpectedly sunny! Heather and Christian entered their wedding breakfast to 'Mr Blue Sky' by ELO and had their first dance to 'How Deep Is Your Love' by the Bee Gees.
Instagram was a huge factor in us sourcing our suppliers. We found it a fantastic resource as you get an insight into the supplier's work to see if it fits with your vision. We were very lucky in that we only lost one supplier due to our postponement from Covid and all of our suppliers were an absolute dream to work with!
