From the white one shoulder bridesmaid dresses and the bride in custom Alexandra Grecco with puff sleeve detail, this wedding is one not to be missed. Think a wedding has to be formal and classic? Well, Sophie and Owen have proved you wrong! This 70s-inspired party wedding is full of all the fun and relaxed vibes you could ever need! It takes place in a brewery at our Recommended supplier, Holmes Mill! The couple's party wedding was captured by Recommended photographer, Maddie Farris.
If you have a clear idea of the atmosphere/vibe you want to create then base everything around that! We knew from the start that our guests enjoying the day was our main priority, so we wanted a really fun informal atmosphere. A lot of our budget went on the bar tab, the music and additional entertainment such as the magician and the mobile creche team who kept lots of the kids occupied so the parents could enjoy themselves too!

The colour palette was quite 70's inspired with lots of autumnal tones that worked well with the rustic venue. Full of handpainted vases with lots of dried flowers, as well as matching coloured candles, the decor is such a vibe. The Holmes Mill venue is a brewery, which really fitted the vibe Sophie and Owen were after. They wanted their wedding relaxed and more like a big party. They used drinks tokens so they could take full advantage of having a party in a brewery! The couple has lots of talented friends who helped bring everything together with one of their best friends doing the flowers, another friend making Owen's suit, and Sophie's sister doing the wedding stationery. The couple both have big families, so providing the party entertainment was essential!
The white one shoulder bridesmaid dresses were the perfect option to match the fun and relaxed 70s vibe as well as popping against the autumnal colour scheme. The couple spent a lot of time on Instagram and websites including Rock My Wedding to get inspiration for decor and suppliers. Like the band whose set list was the perfect mix of classics and guilty pleasure pop-punk. Sophie and Owen weren't sure how the music was going to go down, but everyone just went wild for the evening and sang every word. The couple had quite a short ceremony so the music was important for them to get right. Sophie and Owen even created playlists for every single part of their day!
I really don't like having my picture taken and wanted the pictures to be really informal (and not take up hours of the day) and Maddie Farris completely understood. The day went by in a bit of a blur so having her photographs to remember the day is amazing as she captured all the little details and the bits you don't get to see yourself during the day.
