The Rock My Wedding trend report explores the top wedding trends that are guaranteed to add that extra touch of magic to your special day.

"2025 will continue to be all about unconventional weddings and personalisation," says Editor of Rock My Wedding, Jennifer Read-Dominguez. "From non-traditional wedding venues and catering options with a less formal feel, to alternative wedding dresses and multiple bridal outfits to express their personal style."

From unique decor ideas to personalised experiences, these popular wedding trends go beyond the traditional to create a wedding that truly reflects your style and personality. Whether you're a fan of rustic charm or modern elegance, there's something for everyone.

Wedding Venues and Decor Trends

Alternative Wedding Venues and Decorations

The choice of venue and decorations sets the tone for your wedding and creates the atmosphere you desire. In recent years, couples have been embracing unique and unconventional venues, such as barns, vineyards, and industrial spaces. Editor of Rock My Wedding, Jennifer Read-Dominguez, explains that: "These non-traditional wedding venues offer a blank canvas for creativity and allow you to transform the space into a reflection of your personal style.

"In the pandemic, outdoor weddings became a thing because they needed to be, and brides were forced to look for alternative options. However, couples seem to be sticking to the at-one-with-nature concept and are actively looking for alternative wedding venues and we're seeing a lot of interest around vineyard wedding venues and wine-themed weddings."

"Couples are also exploring alternative decoration options to traditional floral arrangements," Jennifer says. "We have observed a particular trend involving the use of greenery, such as eucalyptus and ferns, to create lush and natural settings, or utilising the venue's surroundings if it's situated on a farm or vineyard. In addition to adding a touch of elegance, this trend complements a variety of wedding themes, from boho chic to minimalistic."

Another trend that has gained popularity is the use of hanging installations. Whether it's cascading flowers or whimsical lanterns, these installations add a sense of drama and create a stunning focal point in any venue. They also provide a unique backdrop for your wedding photos, ensuring that every moment is captured in a magical setting.

Renaissance-Inspired Minimalism

Editor of Rock My Wedding Jennifer Read-Dominguez says: ""Minimalism will remain a strong trend for weddings in 2025, with brides choosing gowns that feature sleek lines and a minimalist design. Designers are embracing a minimalist take on Renaissance shapes, perfect for timeless and romantic brides. The focus is on clean, elegant silhouettes that enhance natural beauty rather than overwhelming it with heavy fabric or details. This trend merges historical grandeur with modern simplicity, creating an effortlessly elegant look."

Drop Waists & Basque Bodices

"The drop-waist silhouette is a game-changer for 2025," says Jennifer. "Drop-waists elongate the torso beautifully, creating a sleek, flattering figure. At New York Bridal Week, designers like Savannah Miller and Marchesa have taken this trend and made it their own with stunning corsetry and clean lines. Drop waist wedding dresses offer a nod to the flapper styles of the 1920s, giving a vintage twist to the modern gown. They’re perfect for brides who want to stand out. Basque bodices are also making a comeback in 2025. These designs date back to the 1800s, cinching the waist in a 'V' shape and flaring into a dramatic skirt. The result is a stunning hourglass figure that is both elegant and striking."

Elongated Waists

"The Basque waist trend, inspired by Renaissance-era silhouettes, is showing no signs of fading," says Jennifer. "This season, designers have taken these waist-elongating, ultra-flattering looks to new heights. Alexandra Grecco’s candlelit presentation featured a drop-waist corseted top that pairs effortlessly with different skirt styles, adding versatility to the mix. Designers like Julie Vino and Savage & Hunt offered asymmetrical takes on the silhouette, adding a modern twist. For brides seeking something more understated, Jenny Yoo and Watters introduced subtler versions that still provide the same flattering effect, but with less drama."

Corsetry

"The Bridgerton-inspired corsetry trend is still going strong, and it’s easy to see why - its torso-lengthening, silhouette-defining effects are irresistible. Nearly every collection on this season's runways featured some form of exposed corsetry. Some, like Wiederhoeft, took it a step further, creating entire collections centered around authentic corset bodices. Wiederhoeft also launched a custom corset sizing system to ensure a flawless fit for every bride."

Gilded Age Glamour

Jennifer says: "Bridal fashion in 2025 is also looking to the past for inspiration, and Gilded Age glamour is back in full force. Think luxurious silk fabrics, intricate embroidery, and off-white tones like oyster, cream, and champagne. These designs are perfect for brides who want to channel that regal, opulent feel for their wedding day, combining tradition with high-end elegance."

Lace

"A trend that gained popularity this year and will continue to be big next is the use of intricate lace and embroidery," says Jennifer. "These delicate details add a touch of romance and femininity to any wedding dress. Whether it's a full lace gown or subtle lace accents, this trend adds an element of timeless elegance to your bridal look. For brides who prefer a more modern and minimalist aesthetic, sleek and simple lace wedding dresses are the way to go. Clean lines, minimal embellishments, and figure-hugging silhouettes create a sophisticated and contemporary look that is perfect for the fashion-forward bride."

Multiple Wedding Day Looks

"The idea of one wedding dress for the entire day is becoming a thing of the past," says Jennifer. Brides today are looking to change up their look throughout the celebration, and designers are meeting that demand with new collections that offer versatility. Whether it’s for the ceremony, reception, or after-party, modern brides are now embracing the opportunity to express different facets of their personality with various looks throughout the day. This trend also reflects the growing popularity of brides mixing high-street wedding dresses with designer pieces to create multiple looks. For example, they might choose a designer gown for the ceremony and a more affordable high-street option for the party. This also plays into the rising trend of having a 'wedding weekend', where couples extend their celebrations over several days and want different outfits for each event."

Bridal Separates

"Bridal separates will still be a popular choice for brides in 2025," says Jennifer. "With the growing trend of having multiple looks throughout your wedding day, we're seeing a lot more brides opting for a two-piece bridal ensemble for the after-party."

Short Wedding Party Dresses

"Short dresses are a key trend for brides in 2025, particularly as a second look for the after-party. These dresses are playful and chic, ideal for a modern city wedding or for brides who are opting for multiple outfits on the day. Whether it’s a super short mini or a 1950s-inspired tea-length dress, this trend allows brides to showcase their personality and make a bold fashion statement."

Short Veils

"Long, trailing cathedral trains are a thing of the past," says Jennifer. "Nowadays, veils are fun accessories that express your individual style. There are so many kinds of mini veils you can choose from, including glittering tulle veils that are perfect for an afterparty or headband-veil combinations that are a bit more playful and interesting."

Subtle Black Details

"Black accents are becoming more popular among fashion-forward brides. These details, whether it’s a black sash or intricate lace appliqués, add a touch of sophistication and drama without overshadowing the traditional white gown. It’s a modern twist that still feels timeless."

Convertible Wedding Dresses

"Convertible wedding gowns have come a long way from just having simply removable sleeves," says Jennifer Read-Dominguez. "This season at NYBFW, we saw an explosion of creativity - some dresses offering three or even four different looks in one. Designers like Justin Alexander Signature and Anne Barge showcased collections with detachable skirts, overshirts, gloves, bows, and belts, while other designers introduced separates that could be endlessly mixed and matched. It’s a fantastic option for brides looking for budget-friendly versatility, whether they want to lose the sleeves and train after the ceremony or swap a full-length skirt for a mini at the afterparty."

Halterneck Wedding Dresses

"Halterneck styles are having a moment in 2025. This neckline offers a sophisticated, streamlined look that highlights the shoulders and creates a sleek, elegant appearance. It’s a great option for brides who want something timeless yet modern, and the halter can easily transition from classic to disco-inspired depending on the fabric and fit."

Florals

"Bridal designers continue to draw inspiration from nature, and in 2025, we’ll see more floral and fauna motifs on wedding dresses. Whether it’s delicate embroidered flowers, leaves, or even animals, these designs bring a sense of romance and connection to the natural world, perfect for brides who want something unique and beautifully intricate. Florals are a bridal staple, but the designs for 2025 are very different. Designers aren't abandoning tradition, they're just updating it. These bridal blooms are adding romance while creating texture and depth. Designers like Pronovias showcased bold, oversized rosettes, while Enaura opted for subtle floral embroidery on sleek silhouettes. Idan, Pnina Tornai, and Nardos took florals to a new level with 3D appliques that made the flowers and vines look as though they were growing from the gowns themselves. Meanwhile, Monique Lhuillier and Sareh Nouri introduced a more artistic approach, hand-painting flowers onto dresses and veils, making brides feel like they’re wearing a masterpiece. Daisy motifs are also bringing a touch of whimsy to 2025 bridal collections, adding a playful elegance to gowns. It’s the perfect balance between '60s flower power and modern bridal sophistication."

Crystal Embellishments

"Crystals are the new pearls for 2025," says Jennifer. "Designers like Elie Saab and Ines Di Santo are adding sparkle to their gowns, making them shimmer with elegance and a touch of glamour."

Something Blue

"Something blue is no longer a subtle detail - it’s a bold statement for 2025 brides. Whether it’s a full gown or blue floral accents, this trend brings a fresh, modern twist to a classic wedding tradition.

Bow Details

"Bows are really taking centre stage in bridal fashion for 2025. They add a touch of femininity and playfulness to gowns, but still feel sophisticated. Whether it’s a tiny bow at the waist or a big, dramatic one on the back, this trend can work with various bridal looks. You’ll see bows on everything from shoulder accents to waistlines, adding versatility and charm to any gown."

Bridal Beauty Trends 2025

Bridal beauty in 2025 centres on subtle, sophisticated enhancements of natural features, with a touch of glamour. Rock My Wedding's Editor shares the top bridal beauty trends set to take over in the year ahead...

Pearlescent Skin

"For brides who prefer a softer glow, pearlescent skin is the go-to look for 2025. This is all about achieving a subtle, luminous finish without looking too shiny. Liquid highlighters are bounced across the skin to create a beautiful pearl-like glow, especially on the tip of the nose and Cupid’s bow."

Gently Sculpted

"Underpainting, where contouring and highlighting are applied before foundation, is a subtle way to enhance facial structure. This technique softens sharp lines and helps brides achieve a more naturally sculpted look without feeling overdone."

High-shine

"Holographic cheeks are for the brides who want to add a little magic to their look. Layers of soft, shimmering highlighter give the skin a celestial glow, with colours ranging from champagne to peach. It’s a unique take on traditional bridal beauty, adding just the right touch of whimsy."

Full and Fluffy Brows

"Full, natural brows are instrumental in framing the face. Brides are embracing fuller brows with a touch of fluffiness, using pencils and brow gels to define and lift them. It’s a look that adds structure to the face while still feeling soft and touchable."

Pretty and Pouty

"The cherub lip is a romantic, kissable look that focuses on creating a soft, rounded pout. By connecting the Cupid’s bow with liner and adding a creamy lip colour, brides can achieve that perfect, natural lip shape that’s subtle yet defined."

A Subtle Touch of Red

"Red is making a chic return to bridal beauty. Whether it’s a bold lip or a hint of red blush on the cheeks, this colour adds a striking, modern twist. The 'bitten lips' look, which was big in 2024, continues to dominate, offering a romantic yet bold beauty statement for brides."

Statement Lips

"Statement lips are perfect for the bold bride who wants to make an impact. Whether it’s a deep red or a bold berry, these lips steal the show without needing much else. Pairing a vibrant lip with simple, glowing skin and a touch of mascara creates a timeless yet striking bridal look."

Glowing, Dewy Skin

"Natural, radiant skin remains key for brides in 2025. The trend is all about achieving that fresh, dewy glow, with lightweight foundations and highlighters that enhance the bride’s natural luminosity. Soft, shimmering tones of champagne or pearl create a ‘lit from within’ effect that’s perfect for any wedding style."

Soft Glam Eyes

"2025 bridal makeup is all about soft glam. Neutral shades like taupe, rose gold, and warm browns have always been a bridal makeup go-to but now we're seeing give a defined yet subtle look, paired with fluffy lashes for a natural finish. It’s sultry but understated - exactly what brides are going for."

Effortless Ponytails & Sleek Buns

"Sleek buns and ponytails are the ‘it’ hairstyles for 2025. A sleek bun, as seen on Sofia Richie, is perfect for brides wanting a polished, timeless look, while ponytails add a modern, fun twist. Both styles are versatile and can easily transition from ceremony to party mode."

Soft Rosy Blush & Monochromatic Makeup

"Blush is having its moment in 2025. Brides are opting for extra pops of colour on their cheeks to create a soft, rosy look that doesn’t wash out under the camera lights. Applying a little extra blush high on the cheekbones adds a youthful, romantic flush that’s perfect for both traditional and modern bridal looks. Monochromatic makeup is also a big trend, with warm shades of peach or pink creating a cohesive, natural look across the eyes, cheeks, and lips. Monochromatic makeup is for brides who want an easy, polished look without too much fuss. Matching tones of blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick create a cohesive, harmonious effect. Shades of peach, pink, or berry are ideal, and this look works especially well for outdoor or bohemian weddings."

2025 Food and Drink Trends for Weddings

Food and drink are an integral part of any wedding celebration, and couples are now focusing on providing unique and memorable culinary experiences for their wedding guests.

Sharing Menus

In recent years, sharing menus have gained popularity as an alternative to traditional sit-down dinners. Sharing menus are less formal and allow guests to taste a variety of foods while socialising. Sharing platters work particularly well for starters. You might choose an antipasti platter of charcuterie, cheeses and olives with warm breads, for example.

Grazing Tables

A popular social media trend, the grazing table is a modern update to the buffet. When done well, they can look amazing! With a mix of sweet and savoury dishes carefully arranged on the table, guests can dip in at their leisure. But it's important to manage grazing tables carefully, especially if you are hosting guests with food intolerances and foods that do not keep well.

Dessert Bars

It's easy to see why dessert bars are so popular with couples looking for an alternative to the traditional wedding cake stand. It's also a great way to add personality to a wedding with stylish tables filled with treats after dinner. 2025 weddings will see dessert bars done in a more thoughtful and creative way with dessert display tables packed with personality.

Bespoke Cocktails & Wedding Shots instead of Toasts!

Keeping with the trend of unconventional weddings and personalisation, couples are creating signature cocktails for their big day, based on their own tastes and preferences. We're also seeing a growing trend of couples opting for shots instead of champagne toasts.

Wedding Photography and Videography Trends

Capturing the special moments of your wedding is essential to preserving the memories of your big day. Wedding photography and videography trends have evolved to create visually stunning and emotionally captivating images and videos.

One trend that has become increasingly popular is the use of candid photography and documentary-style videography. Instead of staged and posed shots, couples are opting for natural and spontaneous moments that truly capture the essence of their wedding day. This approach allows for authentic and heartfelt images that tell a unique story.

Drone Wedding Videography

In addition to candid photography, aerial shots and drone footage have also become a popular trend in wedding videography. These shots provide a bird's-eye view of your wedding venue and capture the grandeur and beauty of your special day from a unique perspective. From sweeping landscapes to breathtaking aerial wedding first dances, these drone shots add a touch of cinematic magic to your wedding video.

Wedding Content Creators

In the age of social media and celebrity weddings, wedding content creators are becoming increasingly popular. As a result, couples don't have to wait weeks to post wedding photos on social media anymore. A social media content creator was present at Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo's wedding to produce and post content in real-time and afterwards so we're likely to see more social content creators in 2025 weddings and beyond.

Wedding Entertainment Trends

Entertainment plays a crucial role in creating a memorable and enjoyable wedding experience. Couples are now opting for unique and unexpected entertainment options to surprise and delight their guests. It is becoming increasingly popular to have live music and entertainment at a wedding, such as saxophonists and immersive experiences.

Hand-drawn images on wedding stationery and illustrated wedding invitations are set to be wildly popular throughout 2025, and we can see why – they are so beautiful and make a beautiful keepsake after the wedding. A beautifully drawn, painted or foil-printed wedding venue is the perfect way to show off your wedding venue and give guests a glimpse of what's to come.

Sustainable Wedding Stationery

Another wedding stationery trend that has been gaining momentum is the use of eco-friendly and sustainable materials. Couples are now opting for recycled paper, vegetable-based inks, and biodegradable packaging to reduce their environmental impact. This trend not only reflects a commitment to sustainability but also adds a unique and eco-conscious touch to your wedding invitations and stationery.

Wedding Favours and Gifting Trends

Wedding favours and gifts are a way to show appreciation to your guests and leave them with a lasting memory of your special day. Couples are now opting for unique and personalised favours and gifts that reflect their personalities and make a lasting impression.

These experiential gifts not only create a memorable experience for your guests but also add a touch of luxury and sophistication to your wedding.

Our recent Wedding Gifting Trends Survey of over 2,500 couples revealed that most wedding guests are now buying gifts through a wedding gift list.
