Honeymoon Trends 2024: Trending Honeymoon Destinations for 2024 and Beyond

Having seen the exciting wedding trends for 2024 and beyond, let's explore the top honeymoon destinations for 2024 and beyond.

Honeymoon Trends 2024

For newlyweds, the honeymoon is a significant rite of passage and a sweet ending to wedding festivities. But as tastes, economic factors, and the global landscape have changed over the years, honeymoon trends have evolved dramatically. Couples today seek experiences that match their interests, values, and lifestyle choices for more than just a post-wedding getaway. With the help of honeymoon fund experts at Prezola, we've compiled a round-up of honeymoon trends for 2024 and beyond.

The Rise of Adventure-Based Honeymoons

2024 will be a year of adventure for honeymooners who seek adrenaline-pumping experiences and stunning landscapes off the beaten track. The possibilities for adventure are endless, offering couples a honeymoon filled with unforgettable thrills and boundless excitement, ranging from exhilarating jungle treks to heart-pounding water sports. "Most couples want to try something new on their honeymoon," says Jennifer Read-Dominguez, Editor of Rock My Wedding. "Whether it's seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland or a hot air balloon trip in Turkey, in 2024, we'll see couples prioritise activities and bucket-list experiences so that their honeymoon feels completely different from a normal holiday."

Multi-Destination Honeymoons

Honeymooners are increasingly jumping from one destination to another while staying on one continent for the duration of the trip. "Honeymoon travel is becoming increasingly multi-destinational, which means couples are taking longer trips to experience not just one but several destinations and cultures on one trip," says Jennifer. "Some honeymoon hot spots for next year include Brazil, Argentina and Peru."

Buddymoons & Familymoons

Among Prezola’s Honeymoon trends survey respondents, 14% are considering ‘buddymoons’ or family honeymoons, indicating a real trend toward more inclusive post-wedding holidays. Jennifer says: "Buddymoons involve couples inviting their closest friends to join them on their honeymoon. Likewise, familymoons are becoming increasingly popular for couples who have children or who are close to one another. This trend combines the honeymoon with a memorable group holiday."

Sustainable Honeymoon Escapes

The honeymoon landscape of 2024 is dominated by eco-consciousness among couples who want to be 'at one' with nature. From eco-friendly resorts nestled in lush rainforests to off-grid hideaways powered by renewable energy, sustainable travel appeals to newlyweds seeking luxury and environmental preservation. "There is no doubt that the world today is more concerned about the environment, which is why green weddings and eco-friendly honeymoons are on the rise," says Jennifer. "However, your honeymoon should not be viewed as a guilt trip, but rather as a memorable experience so incorporating sustainable factors is great, but try not to worry too much iof this isn't the case."

Honeymoon Funds

Several newlyweds are opting for a honeymoon fund over a traditional registry, according to Zara Munday-Muir, Senior Marketing Executive at the UK's leading honeymoon fund provider, Prezola. "There is an interesting trend in using gift lists to fund honeymoons," she says. "65% of couples used their gift list for this purpose, and 98% chose Prezola. This indicates a shift to combining experiential gifts with traditional gifts."

The Wellness Retreat Honeymoon

With a wellness-focused honeymoon, you can combine nature's rejuvenating powers with invigorating outdoor adventures. In addition to sunrise yoga sessions overlooking breathtaking vistas, these wellness adventures provide couples with the perfect opportunity to nourish their minds, bodies, and spirits while reconnecting with one another. "After all the stress of wedding planning, couples often just want to unwind and relax," says Jennifer. "So it's no surprise that wellness-focused honeymoons will be popular in 2024 and beyond, including a rise in honeymoons at spa resorts and luxury resorts offering tailored wellness programmes."

Honeymoons With Culinary Experiences

For food-loving couples in 2024 and beyond, culinary experiences reign supreme as honeymooners embark on gastronomic adventures ranging from farm-to-table dining experiences to immersive cooking classes led by local chefs. Culinary tourism offers a delicious way to experience culture and discover food, from savouring exotic delicacies to exploring vibrant street markets. Jennifer says: "Whether it's trying authentic street food in Bangkok, indulging in a wine and cheese tour in Tuscany, or learning the art of sushi-making in Tokyo, culinary exploration offers couples the opportunity to discover new tastes and traditions together."
