Saying 'I do' next to a lavender field at Le Mas De La Rose in Provence is our idea of dreamy (literally, lavender is known for its relaxing and sleep-inducing properties). Maddie, manager to YouTube star Zoe Sugg, and her husband Joel whisked their family and friends to the south of France for a three-day celebration in the Summer of 2019. As they were already legally married, they wanted a destination wedding that felt like a mini holiday with their loved ones.
Maddie and Joel wanted an authentic French vibe, relying on the knowledge of local suppliers. Her stunning dress is by Laure de Sagazan from The Mews Bridal in Paris; the creme de la creme of chic French designs. Additionally Maddie's mum, aka the "DIY queen", leant a huge helping hand with most of the decorations. Including making their personalised Jam wedding favours that said 'spread the love'. What a sweetie!
What made our day unique was that it actually spanned across three days in total. Really it felt more like an extended beautiful holiday with all of our family and closest friends. We were already legally married so our wedding in Provence was more of a celebration and we can honestly say we had the best weekend of our lives.Maddie & Joel
For planning a wedding abroad, I would highly recommend having someone that speaks the language to help you. My mum is French and she was incredibly helpful when it came to liaising with the French suppliers. Despite also speaking French, I think I would have struggled without her. Otherwise, enjoy every second and drink as much free champagne as you're offered!
Two of my best friends, Mark and James, read The Sunscreen Song by Baz Luhrmann with some personal tweaks! Joel's aunty Lin read He's Not Perfect by Bob Marley, and I walked down the aisle to How Long Will I Love You, sung by our amazing guitarist Tristan MacKay. Our first dance was an acoustic version of Mr Brightside by the Killers, also sung by our guitarist.
It's impossible to pick a favourite moment, but both of my parents walking me down the aisle was incredibly special, and saying our personalised vows to each other in front of everyone. My dad's speech was absolutely wonderful and meant so much to me, plus dancing with my husband and all of my friends until we were the last ones standing.Maddie & Joel
