Wedding On The Beach At Lusty Glaze Cornwall
Emma & Scott: Scott and I started planning our wedding day almost immediately after getting engaged following a surprise birthday trip to Dubai together. We had been together almost 7 years at the time and had our two beautiful children Florence and Rex. I had never really imagined our wedding day prior to getting engaged, I just knew we would want something special and meaningful to us.
A laid back informal day to have fun, party with friends, family and of course our children. The meaning of our day was to “tie the ribbon” around our little family, and in the words of our then 5 year old Florence...“to have a nice time and for Mummy to be a Beasley too.”
We knew instantly the venue that was perfect for us, a place we had already made many treasured memories as a family of 4. A place we fell in love with as soon as we found it on our first family holiday to Cornwall in 2014.
Lusty Glaze Beach, Newquay. With it's laid back, beautiful, idyllic Cornish beach setting, it was the only place we considered. We immediately contacted the Wedding Team at Lusty for dates completely overwhelmed that the first date we picked was available.
I did wonder on several occasions were we doing the right thing getting married so far from home? How could I possibly plan it, how would I know who and what to book? Could our friends and family make the journey down to Cornwall? The team were so helpful in giving us advice and local suppliers contact details. Date was set, venue booked, no need to search for caterers as Lusty provide all delicious catering in house. Everything so far was falling into place. Despite having reservations about our decision to marry away from home I have absolutely no regrets. The one thing we did, following advice from other married couples was to plan our day to what we wanted. Not to worry about upsetting family/friends etc, and to do the right thing for us and not feel any stress with the decisions we made.
Planning your wedding is the most wonderful and exciting and short lived time, enjoy every moment. We found everyone we cared about made the huge effort to join us on our wedding day and days there after as they too planned a holiday on the beautiful Cornish Coastline. It was so special to have that time with our closest family and friends. Something we will be grateful for forever.
Cornish Ice Cream & Cream Teas
Food was one of the easy decisions to make, the wedding team at Lusty made it that way with their perfectly thought through wedding menu. We started the day post ceremony with Prosecco and beers...of course! Then to tide our guests over until dinner we chose delicious clotted cream and jam scones, well when in Cornwall...
Little tubs of ice cream were also handed out to the children because they couldn’t play on a beach and not have an ice cream.
Dinner was served after speeches and we decided on the BBQ buffet. A selection of meats and fish served with a selection of potatoes, salads, pasta, vegetables and breads. Everyone enjoyed the informal feeling of the BBQ and the food was amazing, especially the marinated tuna steak! Delicious!
We decided to have our wedding cake sliced and handed out after the bbq as we wanted to make sure everyone got a piece, I didn’t want any of the delicious cake to go to waste. The children all had yummy cheese pizza, and more ice cream! The flow of ice cream was endless. I made a big sweetie treat crate for the children to dip in and out of during the day. Evening food was typical beside the seaside, fish and chip cones. A favourite for everyone.
Bespoke Wedding Dress With Pockets
Having started shopping for a wedding dress I quickly realised that I actually didn’t like anything. Lace, sequins and sparkle just didn’t do anything for me, I struggled to picture myself in anything.
I turned to pinning on Pinterest. All were very relative in design, simple, plain and I liked pockets! The only thing with Pinterest was everything I pinned wasn’t available any where nearby or within budget. So that’s when I met Kate at
Marieé Bridal Couture, Nantwich. It’s a beautiful local shop, five minutes from home so fittings etc were so easy to manage throughout the development of my dress.
After trying on more designers and not getting ‘the feeling’ in any dresses. I tried on one of Kate’s very own designs. I loved it, the colour, the fabric, the box pleated skirt that had pockets! I just wasn’t sure about the top part of the design. I made another appointment with Kate to discuss my ideas and what we could do to make my perfect dress.
Kate is such a talented lady, she was fantastic. She knew exactly what I wanted and was completely honest with what would or wouldn’t work with the design. Kate also made my little girl Florence a mini-me dress from the same beautiful silk mix mikado fabric as mine, to add a touch of fun and colour she lined Florences with a layered baby blue underskirt. I loved that we matched. I loved the whole bespoke experience, the designing, the fittings, seeing my dress develop each time, and working with Kate.
I kept all my accessories to a minimum, even my hair, a simple curled pony tail. I wanted my look to be all about my dress and my shoes. My best friend Andrew gave me some Tiffany pearl drop earrings as a gift prior to my wedding day, they were absolutely perfect with my dress. I also wore a classic Tiffany blue heart pendant bracelet that had been a gift from my parents. Mum and Dad surprised me with my shoes. A pair of bright blue scrappy Aquazzuras. I knew I wanted a blue shoe, something to add a surprise beneath my dress and these fit the bill perfectly.
The Groom
Scott too was very particular at what he wanted to wear. We wanted the wedding to have an informal feeling, but not too laid back as after all, it was our wedding day.
Scott also began to pin ideas of wedding suits for inspiration. I completely left him to it, I trusted him 100% to get a great suit and wear it well. Same as me, Scott struggled to find anything on the shelf so that’s when he made his appointment with Patrick at
Crichton Bespoke Chester. Together they made the perfect, three piece, customised, coordinated suit, complete with bespoke shirts. He teamed this with accessories and suede sand loafers from Reiss. The colours and fabric choices were perfect for our wedding style and the surroundings. Patrick was superb and Scott too enjoyed his whole bespoke experience. Who ever said a wedding was all about the bride's dress?! Not forgetting our little boy Rex who too looked just as dapper as his Daddy. Patrick made Rex some tailored shorts from the same fabric as Scott’s jacket. They tied in together wonderfully. Little touches like this meant so much to me.
