Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the couple tied the knot overlooking the serene waters of Lake Bassenthwaite. It’s the kind of setting that would make even the most sceptical person say, “Alright, I believe in love.” But this wasn’t just a scenic wedding, it was a celebration steeped in history, love, and a little Elvis Presley just to set the mood. The couple had the wonderful Recommended Supplier, Debbie McGregor Photography, on hand to capture their day!

The couple chose a venue that oozes old-world charm. Imagine grand wooden staircases, sparkling chandeliers, and a stone archway that looked like it came straight out of a medieval fairytale. And with a building that dates back to the 11th century, it’s safe to say their venue had seen its fair share of love stories. When it came to walking down the aisle, Iona & Iain chose Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love, played beautifully by a violinist. As the music echoed through the historic venue, there wasn’t a dry eye in sight (okay, maybe a few people tried to play it cool, but everyone knew what was happening).
DIY Flowers and Golden Hour Photos
Who needs a professional florist when you’ve got a groom’s aunt who could moonlight as one? She created stunning floral arrangements for the entire day, from the bouquets to the ceremony décor to the elegant table centrepieces. Each arrangement was a true work of art. If anyone was worried about floral arrangements being “just flowers,” this wedding certainly proves otherwise. The couple’s favourite moment of the day was taking time out to admire the sunset and, after looking at these gorgeous photos, we’re going to say it’s our fave too. It truly looks like a scene from a movie!

Our favourite moment of the day other than the ceremony would be our private photo shoot (just the two of us) after the meal. We found a little stone bridge which crosses the lake which we took a walk along and were also so lucky to have the most beautiful sunset, our photographer captured the most incredible photos.
