What To Expect From A Wedding Dress Fitting

Wedding Dress Fitting

It's wedding dress fitting time ladies! How flippin' exciting. It might have been a little while since you've seen your dress so let us help you prepare for your fitting with a round up of exactly what you need to take to a wedding dress fitting.

What To Take To A Wedding Dress Fitting

It's unlikely that your dress will come and fit you perfectly. Some gowns are super intricate and complex in the way they are designed and its the one time you want an outfit to fit you like a glove so it's highly likely you'll have a fitting ready for it to be altered by a seamstress. In fact, you could well have two or three fittings depending on your choice of gown. Here's a run down of what to expect and what you'll need to take with you to your fittings. You might want to take along any head dress or hair accessories and veils with you as well so that you can get an idea of the full picture.

When Will I Have My Wedding Dress Fitting?

Your first dress fitting will happen 5 or 6 weeks before your wedding. You will need to make sure that by this point you have chosen your underwear and your shoes because your dress will be altered around these. Having different underwear on the day can result in your dress fitting completely differently to how it was altered to. Your follow up fitting will be 3 or 4 weeks before your wedding date.

What To Expect From Your First Wedding Dress Fitting

Not only is this first fitting a chance for you to meet with the seamstress its also the first time you will clap eyes on your dress. Your actual one. So you need to make sure that generally, its the right size, the colour is correct and any other requests you made are right - maybe you had the tulle skirt rather than the crepe for example. Check over any embellishments or beading and make sure you're happy with it. You will walk away leaving your dress in the capable hands of your seamstress and you'll go back a couple of weeks later to try it on again. To your second appointment you will want to take all of the things with you that you took to the first one. At this appointment you can check over all the work from the seamstress and be happy that all your requests have been met. Have a good shimmy about in your dress, sit down, stand up, make sure that you're totally comfortable and figure out if anything else needs tweaking for you to be uber confident in it. Be happy with the length of your dress. Walk in it in your shoes and make sure you aren't tripping or having to hold it up.

What Do I Need For My Final Wedding Dress Fitting?
