Scarlett & Nick had an intimate wedding at Recommended venue, Askham Hall in the Lake District. The couple opted for natural, rustic wedding flowers throughout and wanted to keep formal shots to a minimum to suit their relaxed garden party vibe. They started with a 7 am swim at Ullswater with their family before the nuptials. With a guest list of 24, they played garden games, danced on the lawn to live music and enjoyed the stunning grounds and woodlands. They ended the day with a Michelin-star eight-course dinner in a small dining room opening onto a quaint garden and a glorious sunset. Sounds divine! Capturing all this was Recommended supplier, James Green Studio.
We had the most perfect day and I don't think stationery, flowers, vases, schedules, buttholes etc. had anything to do with how wonderful it was. Don't feel pressured to have a huge wedding or include traditions if they're not for you. There is also such a lot of pressure on this one day, so we tried to stretch out the joy of it all as much as possible with dinners, picnics, walks and afternoons of crafting before the big day. It will be perfect no matter what!

Scarlett's dress was handmade by the wonderful Rowan Joy. It was the perfect summer wedding dress with floral embroidery. Scarlett also gave family members embroidered handkerchiefs alongside plenty of homemade goods for wedding favours. The couple provided homemade jams, rhubarb vodka, and beech leaf gin for them with some help from their loved ones! Scarlett & Nick also wanted locally grown flowers. The Fellside Flower Company supplied the couple with beautiful dahlias, cosmos and other varieties of foliage from their garden. Scarlett's step-mum dug up her vegetable patch to help them grow their own flowers for the perfect rustic wedding flowers.
Scarlett & Nick wanted their wedding to feel like an intimate summer garden party. They had croquet and other lawn games complete with a jazz duo. There was plenty of dancing, flowing champagne, and even a swim in the lake in the morning. Everyone hopped into the mini-bus at the crack of dawn and then headed down to the lake. It was a perfect start to a beautifully intimate day. Everything was relaxed and lacked formality. Nick went for a navy suit without bothering with a tie and Scarlett's dress was specifically designed to be light and airy for the summer months. The couple loved the decor of Askham Hall and didn't need to do much to add to its charm.
The morning swim was a real highlight for everyone (even Nick's Australian family who hasn't experienced such cold conditions enjoyed it!). The sun had just risen above the lake and there wasn't a breath of wind; there were even a few swans swimming by. It was glorious. Another highlight was dancing on the lawn at the end of the evening under a full moon.
