We have the honour of sharing our very own Recommended Supplier’s, Femme Petale, wedding! Gemma is the lead designer at Femme Petale and she tied the knot with Alex at Recommended Venue, The Canary Shed, which was very much a reflection of them, across all elements. The music throughout the day was all the couple’s favourite songs. They also curated personalised drinks for guests and ensured there was entertainment for everyone across the day. The ceremony was exceptionally personal thanks to their celebrant who really set the tone for the day. In the evening, Gemma & Alex chose an incredible band who kept the dancefloor full and lively all night long! Our personal fave highlights from this day are of course the flowers, Gemma’s gorgeous crown from Recommended Supplier, Lace & Favour, and the incredible confetti exit photos thanks to Recommended Supplier, Flutter, Darlings! Recommended Supplier, Little Moments Films, also took an incredible wedding video! The couple chose Recommended Supplier, Prezola, for their gift list.
My favourite moment of the day was seeing everyone after the ceremony, during the reception drinks. It was the first time we'd seen some friends and family for a long time and everyone was so excited to celebrate with us. It felt like the pressure was off and the celebrations could begin!
Gemma & Alex
The inspiration for the styling was inspired by The Canary Shed. With hundreds of colourful wooden birds in the ceiling, the venue is a vibrant explosion of colour and Gemma & Alex wanted to lean into these colours to create a cohesive look. The colours of the venue influenced the invites and stationery, bridesmaid dresses, flowers and table decor. The flowers in particular were all of Gemma’s favourite colours and included her favourite flowers - dahlias. The couple wanted the flowers to feel natural, as though they'd grown in place, with lots of texture and movement.
Gemma & Alex’s advice would be to pick the things that are really important to you and focus your budget on those, rather than trying to have a bit of everything. Prioritising what’s important to you is essential. Entertaining and accommodating guests can be expensive and even small things really add up. Things that were important to Gemma & Alex were the flowers photographer, celebrant, food and music, so that's where they focused their budget. They opted not to have favours, orders of service or a wedding cake as they were less important to them.
I actually went shopping for my wedding dress alone, which was a bit different to a lot of people I spoke to. I'm quite a decisive person and as family and friends are based all over the country, I felt pressure to find the dress at the first shop so they didn't have to keep visiting! I did find my dress made by Recommended Supplier, Made With Love, in the first shop, the team at The White Collection in Clevedon were absolutely fab. I chose to show the mums and my bridesmaids when the dress was delivered so we all still had that special moment. Alterations were done by Recommended Supplier, Abigail Westrup Bridal.
