What a wedding! We have the total honour of sharing Amy & Richard’s wedding day at Recommended Venue, Styal Lodge. It’s probably easier to start by talking about what this wedding didn’t have! Amy & Richard’s main priority was to keep their guests having fun all day long, and that’s exactly what they did. With everything from an audio guest book, glitter and glow stick stations, to personalised cocktails, a reception outfit change and a dedicated area for kids attending the wedding, this couple truly thought of everything. Since Amy & Richard have experience working in events, they are lucky to already know a lot of suppliers who excel at what they do. We haven’t even gotten to the best part yet…Amy found her stunning ruffle wedding dress from Recycle My Wedding! As soon as she set her eyes on it, Amy had to have it! Recycle My Wedding is our pre-loved buy-and-sell platform with everything from secondhand wedding dresses to decor. We’ve barely scratched the surface of this gorgeous day, so let’s get into the details.
We wanted something a little unusual and incorporated personal touches on the signage with quotes from some of our favourite songs.
Amy & Richard
Getting married in November, Amy & Richard wanted to use seasonal flowers to add to their boho vibe. The styling reflected this with a double peacock chair used as the focal point behind the sweetheart table along with white drapery and cosy fairy lights decorating Styal Lodge. Amy & Richard decided to write their own vows as well as have a ring-warming ceremony, which allowed the guests to bless the rings with blessings and well wishes before the ceremony. Amy wanted to give a shout-out to the confetti by Recommended Supplier, Flutter, Darlings! The guests loved it and couldn’t believe how long the confetti stayed in the air, the photos are amazing! Amy & Richard's wedding entrance brought high energy with Saxophonique playing the couple in. Plus, their first dance was cute, with their son coming to join the happy couple partway through.
Amy & Richard focused on what they wanted for their big day and traditions went out the window! The couple had their little boy present for the wedding. The night before, they spent a cosy night together as a family and, on the day of, he walked down the aisle with both the bride and groom’s mums. Having fun was the main focus of the day, so all the decor and details were put together with entertainment in mind. Amy & Richard had a cocktail station with their fave cocktails (espresso martini and old-fashioned), which were made to order and everyone loved them! They added personalised cocktail toppers with the wedding logo too! As an alternative wedding guest book, the couple had an audio guest book where guests could record personal messages. Plus, for the reception, a glitter and glow stick station was put together so guests could get in the party mood.
Don’t focus on traditions and expectations from family members or friends, just do what you want to do as a couple – whether that means eloping or not doing speeches if it makes someone uncomfortable with public speaking. It was our goal for everyone to enjoy the day and for those closest to us to have a part in it. We asked friends to be masters of ceremonies for that personal touch and our mums to be included in the ceremony. Just do what you want, it’s your big day after all – make sure you enjoy it!
