The Dougarie Boathouse

Our experience of the boathouse was excellent from start to finish. We picked the boathouse as I grew up on the island and we wanted to marry in somewhere close to both our hearts, I had always admired the boathouse building from a young age and with both mine and my husbands love of the sea it’s was the ideal choice when it started it’s renovation to a wedding venue! We were very lucky to be one of the first weddings in the venue and the process from booking to planning was straight forward and thoroughly supported by the great team at Dougarie. We first visited the venue back in March 2021 when work was still underway but we never had any doubts as to how beautiful it would be when finished, Malin’s communication throughout was excellent and she went the extra mile to help with our plans and running of our wedding, our day couldn’t have been more perfect! The venue itself has been tastefully restored with every detail being personally picked. The facilities are all excellent making the work of the bar and catering staff simple and straight forward. And the view just speaks for itself, you don’t get much better in our opinion. We would highly recommend the boathouse to anyone looking for a stylish venue with stunning views, seaside sunsets and a great team to support your wedding day plans.

Quite simply outstanding If you are looking for a venue with a difference this is it. The team at the Boathouse were incredible from start to finish and went over and above at every turn, even when one of our suppliers were struggling to provide their service the Boathouse team worked through the night to make sure we could have a wedding day of wedding days. I cannot recommend the Boathouse enough and to top it off the Arran micro climate weather completed our day. They provide a fantastic package service which really does include everything and made even better by keeping it local and supporting islanders within this. I simply cannot thank the team enough. You are truly wonderful and I am so sad the wedding preparations are complete!

Staff were on hand to help from the minute we arrived on the Island Malin the Events Coordinator is amazing and worth her weight in gold ! We can't fault the Boathouse and staff! The support and help we received was second to none, nothing was too much trouble, from Joel the Barman and his staff to our Celebrant Sarah ! The venue itself was just as stunning as when we first fell in love with it back in September 2021. The Boathouse Beauty & charm speaks for itself as does the scenery! We can't deny the weather makes all the difference with endless photograph possibilities outside and if you are lucky the odd seal will make an appearance. We loved the fact we had exclusive use of The Boathouse, we were able to put our own stamp on it, use our own suppliers and decorate to our taste, not that the venue needed anything less is more in this case. Not sure what else we can say, a truly magical place, that casts a spell on everyone that visits!!

Best day everrrrr! Our wedding at The Boathouse exceeded all of our expectations and dreams! The venue is absolutely stunning and situated in the most idyllic setting on the Isle of Arran. The views and scenery make for a beautiful outdoor ceremony if the weather permits. Malin was amazing throughout the whole planning process, from the ease of booking to answering all of our questions and requests. She went above and beyond for us to help the whole day run smoothly. Malin is so lovely and very approachable and nothing was too much trouble. Joel and Sarah from No 16 did an incredible job of running the bar. They provided an excellent selection of drinks and even tailored a cocktail to our request! They were very attentive throughout the day making sure everyone’s drinks were topped up. We couldn’t recommended The Boathouse enough, everyone involved helped make it a day we will never forget!

We had our wedding at the Boathouse on 29th June 2023. The venue is so beautiful, our guests are still talking about it now! The events organiser Malin was really helpful in the run up to the wedding and was there on the day to help make sure everything ran smoothly. Joel and Sarah who ran the bar were attentive and lovely (Sarah even gave us a song on the karaoke - what a chanter!). It was a really beautiful day and we will cherish the memories always.
