Why Choose Hair Extensions for Your Wedding?

Enhance Volume and Length

When you have fine or short hair but dream of a dramatic style, hair extensions can help you add volume and length to your natural hair. Extensions can help you achieve your dream wedding hairstyle, whether it's a cascading waterfall braid or a sophisticated sleek styles.

Versatility in Bridal Hair Styling

Hair extensions offer incredible flexibility in styling. From intricate braided buns to elaborate updos, extensions are able to support complex styles and ensure that they hold throughout your special day. They allow for a wide range of bridal hairstyles that you might not be able to achieve with your natural hair alone.

Matching Your Wedding Theme

Your wedding theme can influence your choice of hairstyle, and extensions can help you match it perfectly. For instance, if you’re having a bohemian-themed wedding, long, and wavy extensions can enhance that free-spirited boho bride vibe. You can also add elegance to a formal affair with smooth, straight hair extensions.

Types of Wedding Hair Extensions

Clip-in Hair Extensions

Renowned Hair Extensions Specialist, Moe Harb told us clip-in hair extensions are ideal for first-timers. "I usually recommend clip-in extensions for brides-to-be who have never had extensions before because it’s not a big commitment and they still get to have beautiful hair for their special day."

Tape Hair Extensions

Tape hair extensions are are a semi-permanent option for brides to add length and volume while prioritising the health of the natural hair. "Tape extensions are reusable and can be refitted multiple times. Tapes are also gentle on the hair and can be worn up in different styles with zero visibility of the attachment points so this is usually the preferred hair extensions method for brides," says Moe.

Bonded Hair Extensions

Pre-bonded hair extensions are a long-term option and one of the more traditional hair extension methods, where the extensions are 'bonded' to the client’s natural hair using a keratin formula. Moe says bonded extensions are best suited for those with healthy, thicker hair since each bond needs to hold the hair firmly to stay in place for long periods. "The health of your natural hair is our main priority," says Moe.

"If your hair is extremely fine, bonded hair extensions are unsuitable since the keratin attachment points can cause breakage, resulting in visible attachment points or, in the worst case, damage to your natural hair. Tape-in hair extensions are a better option for brides-to-be with fine or short hair who want to create good overall hair coverage and thickness."

Which Hair Extensions Are Best For Brides?

Hair Extensions Expert at Beauty Club London, Louise Bailey told us: "A bride's choice of hair extension method for her wedding day depends entirely on her personal preferences. We always recommend clip-in hair extensions to brides looking for a temporary solution, especially if they do not want to commit to permanent extensions on their big day. A clip-in extension is also great for adding volume and length to updos and buns or ponytails to achieve a fuller appearance.

"A lot of brides oft for tape hair extensions because they can rest assured that their hair will look and stay perfect from the wedding right through the honeymoon without having to do much themselves. And I usually recommend tape-in extensions for brides as a more permanent hair extensions solution that maintains the health of the natural hair."

How Long Before The Wedding Should A Bride Get Extensions Fitted?

As soon as you get engaged, schedule a consultation with your hair stylist to figure out what might work best for your hair, your look, and your budget so that you can make a plan together. If you're certain you want hair extensions for your wedding day to achieve your ideal bridal look, it's also important to find a hair extensions specialist.

"When women know they are getting married, they tend to start working out, or start a pre-wedding skincare routine, but beginning a hair care routine should also be a priority," says Moe Harb. "If you want a more permanent type of extension such as tapes, I recommend going for a hair extensions consultation way before the wedding.

"At Beauty Club London, we recommend having a consulation two to three months before the wedding and having your hair extensions fitted one or two weeks before the wedding. We offer complimentary adjustments to your extensions during this time, which allows the bride to wash the extensions, plan the desired bridal look with their stylist, and get the feel of having extensions in so you know exactly what to expect before the special day."

Styling Hair Extensions For Your Wedding

Most brides would like their hair to be styled on their wedding day, whether it be up or down. If you are considering hair extensions for your wedidng day, look for a reputable hair extensionist as not all hair stylists are able to apply hair extensions so they can be worn in different styles without the attachment points becoming visible.

"The bride can wear high ponytails and half-up half-down dos with hair extensions that are fitted correctly," says Moe. "However, it’s worth considering your desired style before opting for a specific hair extension method. Tapes would be the best option for fuller up-dos and down-dos, while bonds will look seamless in sleek down-dos.

"If the bride would like extensions fitted for her hen, most tape extensions can be re-fitted and worn three times so the bride can have the hair extensions from her hen all the way through to her honeymoon. If the tape extensions are fitted for the hen do, the bride will just need a re-tape before the wedding. We also recommend another re-tape before the honeymoon to keep your extensions looking perfect throughout the holiday."

Our Social Media Manager, Holly tried out tape hair extensions for the first time. "Having previously had nano bond and weave hair extensions, I couldn't believe how light the tapes felt on my head. They are incredibly comfortable, and I barely notice they are there. The application process was quick and easy, with no pulling or discomfort. They blend seamlessly with my natural hair, and the tapes stay secure without causing any damage. These extensions have definitely been a game-changer for me!"
