What happens when a scientist groom marries a fashion designer bride? A wedding to die for! Charlotte's bridal headband is the perfect accessory to her Alexandra Grecco wedding dress. With Charlotte's sketches and mood boards and Daniel's spreadsheets and digital knowledge, they ended up with a day that was just unapologetically them, in every way. Charlotte & Daniel are childhood sweethearts; they've been together since they were fifteen years old and have known each other since they were four. This wedding was a long time coming and they knew it was going to be one huge joyful celebration! Esme Whiteside Photography, a Recommended photographer, had the honour of capturing the beautiful day.
With planning, start as early as you can and have fun with it too, create mood boards and spend time with one another discussing what your top priorities would be and what is important to both of you - the non-negotiables. We also made our own dried flower confetti using roses from our families' gardens and air-dried them. They smelt beautiful and this has now become a family tradition - something we will do for other family members in the future. Write a card to each other to open on the morning of your wedding, this was a lovely personal touch.

Charlotte's orchid and dried grass bridal bouquet deserves an honorary mention before we continue because it is stunning! Charlotte works as a creative, therefore the couple made a huge effort to be as DIY as possible. They designed and made all of their save the dates, wedding invitations and all of the on-the-day stationery together, which after hours of work was one of their biggest achievements; the photographer even asked who supplied their stationery! As a fashion designer, the dress was going to be a huge deal. Charlotte knew a month after her engagement she was going to be an Alexandra Grecco bride - timeless, elegant with gorgeous attention to detail! She accessorised the look perfectly with that stunning bridal headband.
The theme was romantic minimalism and modern bohemian. The venue is so beautifully understated, in terms of decor so flowers were a huge part of Charlotte & Daniel's day, with layers of dried grasses and muted fresh flowers covering the 7ft high fireplace and staircase. Vintage stoneware bud vases and tables lined with linen and taper candles added a warm and inviting atmosphere for the guests. From the second they walked into Aswarby it felt like home. They wanted their guests to feel relaxed and their only goal was for there to be smiles and laughter all day, and that is exactly what they had. One of the bridesmaids read Union by Robert Fulghum during the ceremony, and made the registrar cry; the words are so beautiful.
We both found our wedding venue by seeing a photo of the beautiful staircase on Pinterest and, after finding out the name, searched on their website and social media. As we had two years to plan our wedding, we used social media and styled shoots to see which suppliers had worked together and who was also local to our venue. We sought recommendations from our photographer, and our venue and we even asked other brides who had gotten married at Aswarby. Instagram was an amazing way of finding real couples to help with our supplier list.
