What happens when Player One and Player Two fall in love? Elle & Alex celebrated their love with a video game-inspired wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf. The couple first moved in together just before lockdown, spending countless hours at home playing video games, which became their shared escape. On their wedding day, they chose to honour this special hobby and the city where they met. From a romantic ceremony to a drinks reception boat ride along the Thames and even a Game Boy seating chart, every detail was thoughtfully crafted by their incredible wedding planners and Recommended Supplier, The Wedding Arrangers. Elle & Alex wanted their guests to leave, thinking, “Wow, that was FUN!”
We LOVED Elle & Alex’s bold colour scheme with those sleek and sexy black bridesmaid dresses from Recommended Supplier, Six Stories, that made the beautiful flowers by Recommended Supplier, Honey Bunch, really pop! What really levelled up this wedding though? Elle’s beautiful wedding dress from Recommended Supplier, Halfpenny London. OBSESSED!
Our advice to other couples planning their wedding is to do what you want to do, not what you think you should do. Celebrate what makes your relationship unique.
Elle & Alex
Elle & Alex made sure that their wedding day felt unique and special to them by including things they both love throughout the day. This included retro video games, the drinks reception on a boat down the Thames, the laidback feasting/family-style dining, and the brass band followed by the indie/pop rock disco by Recommended Supplier, RedLine DJs and Entertainment. The couple wanted to shout out Jon from Redline for the epic party. Elle is sober, so it was really important to focus on creating a fun day that wasn’t centred around drinking! Their amazing planners, The Wedding Arrangers, smashed it out of the park by providing alcohol-free alternatives throughout the day. We have plenty of no-alcohol wedding ideas for you to browse! You don't need to have alcohol to have a 'fun' wedding. By being more inclusive of your wedding guests’ preferences, everyone will get to enjoy your day and nothing is more fun than that!
After moving into their first flat together in South East London at the start of 2019, lockdown hit and Elle & Alex spent a lot of the time playing video games together. The couple had custom artwork and stationery designed by friends to bring this theme to life. Each table was named after a video game world that Elle & Alex have ‘visited’ during their relationship and was accompanied by an illustration of what that world looks like. These were then combined in an epic Game Boy inspired table plan inviting guests to “select their world and press start to enter”. For entertainment, the couple had a vintage games console with games for the guests to play in the evening. During the drinks reception, the boat even sailed past their first flat, and it felt like such a special moment! Of course, one of our favourite pics from this wedding is the epic confetti shots! Elle & Alex chose Recommended Supplier, Confetti Bee, for all their confetti needs!
Out of the whole day, travelling under Tower Bridge on the boat was a pretty special moment, and many people were waving at us! A close second would be the special visit from our dog, Thor.

Elle & Alex’s wedding day at Trinity Buoy Wharf was full of fun and games (literally) but also so much personal and sentimental meaning. For their wedding reading, the couple chose I Wanna Be Yours by John Cooper Clark, more commonly known as the song by The Arctic Monkeys! We’re so in love with the couple’s choice of black bridesmaid dresses! They just make all the colours of the flowers and venue pop in these wedding photos! Here are our favourite black bridesmaid dresses right now!
