Six months before Georgina & Alfie’s tipi wedding, Georgina was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Shortly after the diagnosis, the couple vowed they were having their wedding day no matter what, which is exactly what they did! Georgina had the tumour removed and underwent 8 rounds of chemotherapy. The tipi wedding happened in a break between chemotherapy cycles. Georgina took 2 naps during the day to maintain her energy for the festival-style wedding! The vibes of this day are just electric! It was a complete celebration of love and life and we’re so honoured to share this incredible day with you! Complete with JCB wedding transport, Colin the Caterpillar wedding cake and stunning mismatched bridesmaid dresses, there’s no shortage of fun! Recommended supplier, Light & Lace Photography, captured all the details of this day. The bride had shoes from Recommended supplier, Esska Shoes. The couple had their tipi from Recommended supplier, Sami Tipi.
I was a wedding planner for four years in the local area, so I had our wedding planned and suppliers booked within two weeks of starting to plan! I knew exactly who I wanted to work with, who would do a great job and who could be trusted with such an important day. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends in the industry!
Georgina
It was important to Georgina & Alfie to have a day that felt really relaxed and fun for both them and their guests. The couple had a tipi wedding, which allowed them to have their wedding celebration on the farm they live on! The farm is a convenient two-minute walk from the church, which also has huge sentimental significance as Georgina grew up in the area. There was absolutely no formal wedding breakfast or assigned seating, the couple wanted their day to be enjoyable with no fuss! One of Georgina & Alfie's fave moments was when the vicar pronounced them husband and wife and made them both turn and face the guests. Seeing so many people they loved in one place, all smiling and cheering was the best feeling. The couple had one of our favourite ever wedding readings, Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton at their ceremony!
Georgina & Aflie wanted the day to look colourful and happy. The brief to the florist was 'big, bouncy and pink' and she really delivered! For this couple, making the flowers the focal point of the tipi wedding was key! They invested their budget into a few key items including the flower arch, bowl arrangements and gorgeous bouquets! Flower power! Amidst the abundance of pink and flowers, there was Georgina's grandad's JCB. That's right, the couple rode to their reception in the bucket on the front of the JCB. We're predicting this as the ultimate wedding transport in our wedding trends for 2024, just so you know. The couple had 2 Colin the Caterpillar wedding cakes and included a fun DIY project in their day. They had printed famous couples onto the confetti bags including Miss Piggy and Kermit!
I would advise people to make decisions based on their preferences and tastes, rather than what's traditionally done or what's in fashion. We swerved matching bridesmaid dresses in favour of my girlfriends choosing their own outfits, which was a great decision as they all looked and felt incredible. I would also encourage people to enjoy it all - it's supposed to be fun! The lead-up does not need to be stressful. Lean into having shared experiences and making memories through all of it (even if it's a late-night Prosecco run to Tescos a few days before!).

Georgina & Alfie's tipi wedding is full of so much joy and love! By letting the bridesmaids wear dresses they feel comfortable in, they all could have a great time without feeling self-conscious. This is the main reason we love mismatched bridesmaid dresses! Wondering how to do mismatched bridesmaid dresses? We're always here to help. What about some transport inspiration?
