When it comes to wedding styling, signage is often one of the most underestimated details. But with the right design, wedding signage can do more than just inform your guests. It can set the tone, showcase your personality, and become a stunning visual feature in your celebration. We spoke to some of the UK’s most loved wedding signage and stationery suppliers (aka our lovely Recommended Suppliers) to get their insight into must-haves, emerging trends, and expert tips that’ll help you get it just right.
The Five Wedding Signs You Need For Your Wedding Day According To The Experts
Across the board, there are three essentials every couple should consider...
1. Welcome Signs
A welcome sign does more than simply greet guests, it establishes the atmosphere and theme for your day. As Little Wootton explains, “Not only is it a focal point for your venue and confirms to your guests that they are in the right place, but it also sets the tone and aesthetics for the whole day and can be styled as a reflection of you and your theme.”
KR Creatives also highlights its versatility, noting how it can be moved from ceremony to reception seamlessly!
Absolute must-haves for your wedding day are always a welcome sign and table plan. These, for me, are non-negotiable signage.

2. Order of the Day
Guests like to know what they will be doing all day, and an order of the day sign ensures they don’t miss a moment, from speeches to the cake cutting. On the sign, let them know the key timings. When are the ceremony, food, and speeches, and when will the party draw to a close? Loft + Fig recommends this, especially if your wedding is spread out across multiple venue areas.
An order of the day sign is such a useful detail - it helps guests understand the flow of the day and keeps things running smoothly. And a seating plan sign is essential. It’s often one of the first things guests see, and when done simply and elegantly, it really helps set the tone for the celebration.

3. Unplugged Ceremony Wedding Signs
Perhaps one of the newest signs to be seen at weddings is the unplugged ceremony sign. If you want guests to put their phones away and not take any photographs during the ceremony, then you need one of these signs. Whether you ask them to keep phones away for the rest of the day or not is up to you, but having an 'unplugged' ceremony makes your photographer's job so much easier.
We’re seeing a rise in ‘unplugged ceremony’ signs, which make it clear that phones and screens are to be kept out of sight.

4. Menu Wedding Signs
A great way to save money is by having one large menu sign rather than individual menu cards for each place setting. Make sure you keep it somewhere that everyone can see and include all of your courses. Or if you're having a cocktail hour, a stylish display of what's on offer is sure to entice your guests into sipping happily.
5. Table Plan/Seating Charts
If you're allocating seating at your wedding, then you definitely need a table plan to show people where to sit. No matter how clear you think it is, people will always get confused, so try to place the sign in the same room as your tables, so it clearly replicates the way the tables are laid out. This gives you the chance to add a creative, personal twist with table names inspired by travels, favourite places, or inside jokes, says KR Creatives.
I believe the ultimate must-have is your seating plan sign. I've seen weddings that haven't had one, and it can be absolute chaos for guests trying to find their seats.

Other Wedding Signs
But don’t forget the smaller, yet equally impactful signs. Think "Table Name Signs", “Please sign our guestbook”, “Reserved”, or “Cards & Gifts”. These subtle touches can enhance the overall aesthetic and guest experience. “I’m seeing a real trend towards more, more, more! I've created bar & cocktail signs, photograph signs, wedding favour signs and signs for loved ones who couldn't be there… Having all of these fitting the theme really makes for an elevated space," says Birdhouse197.
Wedding Signage Trends to Watch
As wedding styles evolve, so too does signage. Here’s what’s hot right now
Fabric Signage
Elegant and ethereal, fabric signage is the new darling of modern weddings. “There is a definite rise in popularity for fabric signage, with couples opting for elegant textures and a romantic luxury feel,” says Paper Belles.
Little Wootton is preparing to launch a dedicated range, perfect for minimalist aesthetics and destination weddings. Ambience Venue Styling UK calls them “incredibly sought after,” especially when paired with immersive décor like candlelight and floral meadows.
According to Wellwood Wedding Stationery, “The biggest trend we are seeing in signage right now is fabric banner signage... they allow for some movement in the wind and look much softer compared to board or acrylic signage options.”
Shaped Signs & Arches
Arches and custom shapes are dominating 2025 weddings. KR Creatives highlights, “Shaped and arch signs are the most popular so far. I love the arch design—I think they look really smart and classy,” while Ambience Venue Styling UK emphasises the role of unique shapes in creating an immersive welcome for guests.
Personalised Monograms
More couples are embracing fully bespoke design suites, carrying a personalised monogram or theme across invitations, signage, napkins, and table décor. This elevates your wedding from cohesive to completely curated. “We’re working with clients to ensure their monogram is incorporated throughout their stationery and signage suite in 2025/26,” shares Ambience Venue Styling UK.
Top Tips for Choosing the Right Signs
1. Know Your Venue
Before ordering, check what your venue allows. Can signs be staked into the ground? Are there easels available? Every venue has its own quirks, and it’s crucial to plan around them. “Understand the space, the areas available to you for your signage and what your venue allows/doesn’t allow,” advises Little Wootton.
2. Keep it Personal
Choose signs that reflect you as a couple. Whether it’s through colour palettes that match your florals or themes that tell your story, KR Creatives says, “the more customisation, the better.”
3. Sync with Your Stylist & Florist
One of the biggest mistakes couples make? Not telling their stylist or florist about the signs. These professionals need to know what signs you’re having, how you want them dressed, and their sizes, so they can integrate them beautifully into your overall wedding design.
When to Order Wedding Signs
Timing is everything. Order too early and risk changes to your guest list. Order too late and risk delivery delays. Loft + Fig recommends 1 month in advance, while Little Wootton suggests a 2-month buffer for custom or personalised signage. KR Creatives likes to begin the design process 4–6 weeks out, giving enough time for edits and approvals.
TOP TIP - Booking your supplier is different from ordering your stationery and signage!
“I would recommend booking [your stationer] at least a year before your wedding to ensure they have availability,” advises Paper Belles.
“Most stationers will happily take a booking for wedding signage at the same time as invitations,” says Wellwood Wedding Stationery.
Common Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them)
1. Spelling
“Not double - or triple-checking the spellings. Especially on seating plans,” warns Papier.
“Spelling mistakes are another problem I see often,” adds Paper Belles.
“Not being consistent in the vision, matching other decor or stationery items.”
3. Ordering Too Late/Early
"I always say I'm happy to wait until 3-4 weeks before the wedding to print seating plans,” says Birdhouse197. “More often than not, there are some last-minute changes.”
Loft + Fig warns, “Ordering too late or too early—seating arrangements almost always change towards the wedding date.”
4. Practical Details
KM Stationery & Design adds, “Not thinking about the purpose of the sign and how it will be used… For example, having a table plan for 250 guests on a small board will cause a crowd and unnecessary time searching for their seat.”
Signage That Lasts Beyond the Big Day
Your signage doesn’t have to be a one-day wonder. Consider how pieces like your welcome sign or top table plaque can be repurposed in your home after the wedding as keepsakes. Little Wootton and KR Creatives both suggest using personalised pieces as lasting mementoes and even turning your wedding card post box into a memory box for photos and treasures.
The good news is that these wedding signs have no rules! You can display and design them as you see fit. Planning your wedding signage should be exciting, not stressful. KR Creatives reminds us, “Make your wedding day as stress-free as possible by having your stationery designed and created by the professionals.” Let your signs do more than just guide guests; let them tell your story, elevate your aesthetic, and become treasured parts of your wedding journey.
Whether you're dreaming of bold arch signs or delicate fabric backdrops, there’s never been a better time to get creative with your wedding signage.
