Well, Daisy & Sam’s wedding definitely wasn’t your traditional neutral/white wedding. Oh no, the chosen theme for this couple was ‘gothic couture’ although we’d like to add to that and say this theme is the ‘vows of the avenging angels’. Looking incredible in all-black outfits, Daisy & Sam owned that colour just like any other bride would own white. With anatomical hearts, coffin-shaped food, skull decorations and the most gorgeous deep red rose flower arrangements, our inner emo hearts have totally died and gone to hell in the best way. It felt only right that we share this wedding in the lead-up to Halloween, especially since the couple tied the knot at Recommended Venue, The Asylum Chapel, before partying it up at the aptly named, Bleeding Heart Crypt in London. Plus, the day was captured beautifully by Recommended Supplier, Eclection Photography.
I honestly don’t think we have ONE moment we can isolate as the favourite, it was all so amazing from start to finish. The bus journey between venues was a definite highlight. We had drinks flowing, plenty of party tunes blasting and lots of headbanging. My bridesmen grabbed me and made me crowd-surf at one point too. It definitely wasn’t a standard wedding affair.
Daisy & Sam
The vision for Daisy & Sam’s wedding was ‘gothic couture’ and they totally delivered! To set the scene, the couple tied the knot at The Asylum Chapel before celebrating the marriage in a literal Crypt. On theme doesn’t even come close. The venues were perfect and the decor even more so. There were coffin-shaped squashes for the starter, anatomical heart flower vases and skull water bottles decorating the tables. The couple walked into their wedding breakfast to an all-out heavy metal tune and featured a LOT of metal, rock and a few more mellow jazz covers of their fave rock/metal songs throughout the day too. Daisy & Sam had their first dance to Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood in a nod to Daisy’s late grandad Vic, and the alternative DJs hosted the rest of the night that got even the non-grunger friends headbanging!
This couple embraced the dark side and both wore stunning black outfits we’re OBSESSED with. Daisy & Sam even asked guests to avoid black as you’d avoid white at other weddings. Iconic. Daisy had wanted a black wedding dress since forever. Being a self-proclaimed emo and scene kid, it just made sense for Daisy to wear something that celebrated her for who she was then and is now. The brief was “alternative but make it elegant”. When you’re choosing a Galia Lahav dress, one thing they’re going to do is understand the assignment. While being opulent and classy, Daisy’s custom Galia Lahav black wedding dress makes her look like a gorgeous avenging angel! The flowers really made the whole vision come together beautifully. Daisy’s amazing friend, Anna, took on the task and made it the easiest process from start to finish.
Make it the wedding YOU want and don’t let other’s opinions bother you. Lots of people gave me side-eye about the sound of my wedding. But if we wanted it, we had it and everyone loved it! Also, give yourself plenty of time to plan if you can! Beware that even if you feel organised, there are a lot of last-minute confirmations in a couple of weeks before the wedding. I took the week off work before the wedding to deal with these bits and found that really helped with the stress levels, especially if you’re DIY’ing.
