Hold your doors and shut your horses. Oh, wait - switch those around, and then take a look at this sensational destination ski wedding at La Cabane Des Praz, France. Lucy & Shao are doing something to us - because looking at these breathtaking photos fills us with intense love and intense jealousy. The event took place at the elegantly understated La Cabane des Praz, nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc. This log cabin, adorned with lofty ceilings and exquisite chandeliers, paired pretty perfectly with the duo's chic wedding looks and those utterly fabulous skiing photos. They held their sunset black tie wedding ceremony on the terrace outside with 75 guests, then headed inside to the bar area for cocktail hour and bridesmaid speeches. From start to finish, this wedding is a treat for all senses - and we honestly feel quite privileged to even be looking at these photos. Recommended supplier The Wedding Shop provided the couple with their gift list - an exquisite list for an exquisite wedding.
Our wedding was due to be a winter wonderland during peak ski season. However, the snow this year has been awful, and a low ski resort like Chamonix ended up not getting any snow on the ground. It was still unique to be having a winter wedding in a gorgeous French ski resort - and luckily the snow held out for us higher up on the ski lifts for our skiing Buddymoon! La Cabane had a little mezzanine overlooking the dining room/bar/dancing areas. We made sure to take a moment out of the evening to go up there with a glass of champagne whilst the party was in full swing and just watch everyone having so much fun!
Lucy & Shao
Lucy & Shao's ski wedding unfolded as a picturesque celebration of love and adventure. Set against a backdrop of snow-covered peaks and evergreen trees, the couple exchanged vows on a pristine alpine slope. The classy white rose and foliage wedding arch took centre stage. Guests gathered in the ever-so-elegant La Cabane Des Praz, adorned with flickering fireplaces and warm rustic decor, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and comfort. The bride and groom donned fabulous, elegant wedding attire. The outfits must have been pretty comfy, too. Because the pair glided down the slopes hand in hand, a joyful expression of their shared journey ahead. As the sun set behind the mountains, the reception came to life with laughter and clinking glasses, as everyone embraced the spirit of the occasion, both the breathtaking scenery and the promise of a lifelong ski-inspired love.
Planning a destination winter wedding in France involves selecting an idyllic location, like Lucy & Shao did with La Cabane Des Praz, coordinating with local suppliers for seasonal decor and cuisine, and managing guest travel details. We recommend that couples prioritise legal requirements and consider hiring a local wedding planner for assistance. Which is exactly what Lucy & Shao did, and they couldn't have been happier with the way things turned out. The couple stated "once we had decided we were going to embark on the admin-heavy adventure of planning a ski wedding, the very first thing we did was search for an Alpine wedding planner! Monica from Haute Weddings was just so incredible at understanding us, our style and our needs right from the get-go. She already had long relationships with everyone from the florist to our Photo/Videography team."
It may have been winter, but Lucy & Shao's outfits seriously brought the heat. Lucy's dress rendered us all speechless. The wedding dress crafted an ideal bridal aesthetic. The mermaid-style sheath wedding dress is bedecked with intricate beadwork and sequins, while its off-shoulder neckline elegantly reveals the décolleté. The long, semi-transparent sleeves twinkle with the same radiant embellishments. A stunning overskirt, fashioned from cascading layers of tulle, features a lengthy train and secures at the waistline. The dress is further enhanced by its exquisite back neckline, adding a touch of additional femininity. Shao complemented Lucy's chic outfit with his own incredibly elegant get-up. With its tailored fit and sleek lapels, his tuxedo epitomised formal elegance. The deep black hue radiated a sense of refinement, while the crisp white dress shirt and black bow tie completed the ensemble with a touch of traditional charm.
Give yourself plenty of time. Use Google Docs, diarise planning sessions with one another, and create or print out checklists. We are lucky enough to live in Hampstead, North London, where there is a vast abundance of nice pubs. So we would go on a bit of a pub crawl with a laptop on a Saturday, which was just a lot more fun than sitting at home and slogging through the admin. A planner was also very useful in terms of helping us with the timeline and what we should have completed by when. Our planner even gave us examples of ceremonies for structure ideas.
