If you're thinking a black-tie wedding equals a huge budget? Then allow Isla and Chris to show you how to achieve a sophisticated look with lots of DIY decor and thrifty ideas. Isla sourced champagne gold bridesmaid dresses from an auction site, as well as customising her fitted wedding dress to get the couture look she was after. She even hand-stamped confetti and hand-painted signs. All those personal touches really made their day unique. In keeping with the modern minimalist theme was a simple buttercream wedding cake by, Recommended supplier, Kelly's Cakes, topped with a metallic gold laser cut sign. Pure understated perfection. Just like this wedding.
I think a mixture of a lot of special personal touches were what really made our day unique to us. We choose to do personalised vows during the ceremony which was so incredibly special to us. Almost every detail of the decor was handcrafted by Isla, even the confetti was stamped by hand. The welcome board was hand-painted and the menus hand-curated. We really wanted to make sure everything had our unique touch.

Once we had found our venue everything really fell into place after that. We wanted to make sure that our suppliers were either local to us or suppliers that knew our venue really well. I used a lot of Instagram searching, explored Rock My Wedding Recommended suppliers and tried to use a lot of local people to us that we either knew personally or had been recommendations from other people.
Chris and I had a collective bridesmaid and groomsman party of 17! So I knew I needed to save money on the bridesmaid dresses. I love the look of satin bridesmaid dresses and found the perfect ones on ASOS. But, at £40 each, it would have been quite costly. Luckily, I managed to find the exact same champagne gold satin bridesmaid dresses on an auction site for a fraction of the price. The girls looked and felt like a million dollars.
Enjoy it! Enjoy every minute of it. In the moment of stress, money, (a lot of money), and endless planning it can be hard but take time for the two of you to enjoy. The planning is also such an important part of the day. Try and add personal touches to your day, whether you are creative or not. Stamp confetti, create picture boards, write invites together. You will NOT regret it. Also, make spreadsheets. Sounds boring but it will help you keep on top of everything.
