This DIY wood slice table centrepiece decor is an easy way to stick to your budget and have a little fun with too. Iain and Henry decided to name their tables after their favourite films, TV shows, and fandoms they're a part of. So this couple ensured their day reflected them completely with plenty of personal touches. Plus, they married at our Recommended venue, Southend Barns, which they decorated with natural styled decor. In short, this is an essential wedding to see for those who love anything rustic and a little nerdy!
You may get some gentle and some not-so-gentle suggestions from family and friends on the build-up to and even on the day. But it's your wedding, so you shouldn't be afraid to stand your ground. If we'd listened to others we would have had photos we didn't want/need, colours that weren't us, and wouldn't have had the people we wanted there/involved.

Due to the earthy settings of Southend Barns, the couple chose natural decor. The styling of this wedding is so unique! The cake was styled like a tree trunk, the wedding rings were wood inlaid in titanium, and their buttonholes, cufflinks and table confetti were made from pages of their favourite books. The vibes are fun yet relaxed as there was also a band, a magician, and outdoor games. The illustration for the wedding invite was a design of Iain and Henry, with their two cats, Harvey and Frank, surrounded by elements from their fave fictional worlds.
Because Iain and Henry are big fans of a lot of fictional series, they decided to incorporate them into their wedding day. From the table names, table decorations, invites, cufflinks, buttonholes, socks, and ceremony music - everything centred around their love for geeky fandoms! These included Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, James Bond, Pokemon, Fallout, Dr Who, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones to name a few. Henry made themed terrariums and Iain created wood slice table centrepieces by burning the table names onto the wood slice table centrepieces using pyrography. They did this for each table to reflect one of 10 different fictional worlds.
We went to wedding fayres and did a lot of online research when it came to finding our suppliers. We made a lot of things ourselves, sourcing supplies from places like Etsy and Hobbycraft to complete our DIY projects.
