As we enter into the Christmas period, we thought it the perfect time to share our very best and favourite winter weddings. Before we get into our list of faves, we thought we'd list a few reasons why we love winter weddings, so if you're debating about what season you'd like to hold your wedding in, you might be persuaded to have it in the chillier months. Winter weddings are all about lighting, deep and dark colours and tones, sparkles, and Christmas! Think fairy lights, holly wreaths, sequin bridesmaid dresses and faux fur complete with a Christmas tree and some mini present favours! You'll find all of this and more in our inspiration below...
Hollie & George's winter wedding takes the festive vibes to the maximum with a stunning red wedding dress. Mrs Claus could only dream of looking this good! You can never go wrong with a bridal cape. With an advent calendar seating chart, Christmas trees, and a red wedding bouquet, it's safe to say that this wedding is a masterclass on how to have the most stunning Christmas-themed wedding!
Dina & Tarj love the festive season and chose to marry just a week before Christmas! They always wanted to marry in a luxe country house and decided on Recommended Venue, Hedsor House, to be the backdrop of their day. This couple even considered hiring a snow machine for the day! Luck was on their side when they woke up to beautiful real snow. With the perfect white wedding complete with Christmas decorations, this is instantly one of our favourite winter weddings!
Georgie & Brian's intimate wedding highlights all the things we love about the wintertime. Family and friends are so important during the winter months as sometimes they can feel lonely. This couple had only their nearest and dearest attend their special day at the registry office.
After 23 years of being together, Jane & James finally decided to tie the knot! The couple met during secondary school and had a magical frosty winter wedding at Recommended venue, Silchester Farm. Jane wore a beautiful tulle bridal skirt and beaded top separates and the bridesmaids stood out in striking black bridesmaid dresses! It’s all so gorgeous!
Jessamy & Ryan's wedding at Recommended venue, Iscoyd Park, is a true winter wonderland with a surprise flurry of snow, making for some magical couple portraits. By keeping all the decor and flowers white, this couple ended up with a classic and traditional wedding with a relaxed vibe.
Paul & Reece wanted to kick off everyone's Christmas in style with their black tie wedding! Opting for a black and gold colour scheme, this couple is all about celebrating the opulence of a winter wedding. Paul & Reece also chose to involve Harry Potter in their day with themed stationery and table names related to places in the series! Nothing really says cosy winter vibes as much as Harry Potter does.
Laura & Rob knew they wanted a winter wedding as they met on New Year's Eve and got engaged on Christmas Eve, so the season holds a lot of meaning for the couple. Naturally, they went all out with the Christmas vibes and sang carols in the church and had plenty of soft romantic lighting with fairy lights to feel extra festive. Laura & Rob also chose sequinned bridesmaid dresses to add some extra sparkle.
Sophie & Graeme's wedding was traditional and classic but stuck to the winter vibe with some incredible blooms. The couple chose those perfect autumnal warm tones with lots of reds, browns and oranges but also added some pops of blue to the bridal bouquet. Let's discuss the tablescape because wow! Those taper candles add so much warmth and cosiness, we are just in love!
Your wedding party's style and dress are one of the most obvious ways to show the vibe of your wedding day. Philippa & Jake chose tweed suits for the men and deep emerald green dresses for the bridesmaids with complementing white faux fur cover-ups. Philippa's long sleeve lace wedding dress completes the party and they all look so good together. Some darker tones and elegant lace always scream winter wedding to us.
What is the most festive colour for the winter season? The answer is obviously red! Ioanna & Vasilis had red taper candles, red ribbons for their Christmas present gift favours and a festive garland to decorate their tables. But the thing we have to mention is the stunning bridal bouquet with white and red roses, hydrangeas, and berries with eucalyptus leaves. Guests were welcomed with a glass of spiced mulled wine too! Just perfect!
Ashley & Alex had a vintage glam winter wedding. They wanted their day to be timeless but also still have hints of the festive season. They had an advent calendar table plan and Christmas crackers on their tables. But our fave part of this might be the furry pink cover-up that Ashley had personalised. It goes so well with the pink bridesmaid dresses!
Although we've highlighted the glitz and glamour of winter weddings above, Rachael and Chris' day is more laid back. The couple had a simple candle-lit wedding ceremony at a church followed by an intimate family meal at a pub with mince pies, Ferrero Rochers and hot chocolate favours. You can embrace the festive season with plenty of soft romantic lighting and some sequin bridesmaid dresses.
Natasha & Aaron's barn wedding is a true reflection of everything we love about a winter wedding. From the burgundy shoes, a bow tie, a flower girl dress, and flowers, there is plenty of it! Didn't think you could wear a pink suit jacket to a winter wedding? Now you know you can! Aaron's pink suit jacket is a perfect fit because of that gorgeous velvet material! It adds such a luxe vibe!
Finally, we have Alyssa & Simon's city wedding at The Haymarket Hotel. This couple wanted more intimate vibes with that cool city feeling. Set in London, the couple were able to take incredible couple portraits with the decorations and lights around the city. Alyssa accessorised her bridal look with glittery Jimmy Choo heels and a matching clutch bag that is perfect for party season!
Eleanor & George's wedding looks like a movie set. Set with some magical snow and surrounded by dried wedding flowers this wedding is so picturesque. The fur coat added a touch of glamour over Eleanor's ethereal dress and absolutely came into its own in the snowy scenes. The best thing about a dried flower bouquet? You can keep it forever!
Mahisa & Youssef's wedding is not only a winter fairytale but is a DIY masterpiece too! Mahisa made macrame decor and Youssef baked all FIVE wedding cakes. Not only did it snow on this couple's wedding day but Mahisa's red wedding dress is just incredible. For all the boho vibes, they also had a flower crown station!
