String lights soften the exposed brick walls, and foliage, pampas grass and ferns combine with burgundy and blush flowers to bring a sense of the outside in. Readings And Music
Our ceremony was in the Electrician's Shop, a beautiful Georgian building with exposed bricks and wooden beams at Trinity Buoy Wharf. We kept our vows traditional, and liked saying the same words as millions of people before us. My brother read ‘Captain Corelli's Mandolin’ by Louis de Bernieres, and two of our close friends read 'That Still and Settled Place' by Edward Monkton. RMW recommended Music by Kate and Dave performed Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ as I walked down the aisle, and Paul Weller's ‘English Rose’ and Coldplay's ‘Shiver’ for the signing of the register. We walked out to them playing Florence + The Machine’s ‘You've Got the Love’. Dave returned with the best DJ set in the evening, including our first dance to 'Stand by Me' by Ben E King.

String Lights

Isn’t the styling at this wedding sensational? Jo & Rob have the best taste, and have used the industrial space to stunning effect. The string lights dripping from the ceiling create the most magical atmosphere: intimate and romantic for the ceremony, whilst being glitzy and glamorous for the reception. Guests must have felt like they were entering wonderland when arriving at this wedding. And then there are the 1000 paper cranes, made by the couple – with the help of some generous friends – which are hung from hoops and used as place name cards. Sometimes it is the simplest things which have the biggest impact (have you spotted the gold-sprayed tin cans on the tables?), so never be afraid to find household items and have a go. It may only take some colourful paper – and a bit of your time – to turn your wedding dreams into reality.

Advice For Brides-to-be
My biggest advice would be to spend your money where it’s important. If you’re not a DIY person, don't feel like you have to become one – it isn't always cheaper and can be so time-consuming – but don't be scared of having a go either! I've come away with some new skills and got so much satisfaction from seeing my vision come to reality. If you have a dry hire venue, consider hiring an on-the-day coordinator and stylist. I loved being able to enjoy the wedding morning and not worry if everything was going to be ready. Book suppliers that you gel with because they will help in so many ways, and never lose sight of the reason behind the day. You’re marrying the love of your life, which is all that matters – yes, even above making everything Instagram perfect!
