DIY Wedding Decor With Booze Bath At Warwickshire Wedding Venue

Photography by Bloom Weddings
What better way to put your own stamp on your big day then a bit of DIY wedding decor?! Even after having to change their venue 5 days before their wedding (eek!) the celebration still came together beautifully. Originally planning to hold the wedding at the groom's family barn, water damage the week before meant that they had to quickly think of a plan B! And as luck had it, Norton Fields in Warwickshire pulled through and saved the day (quite literally!). The celebration was made up of a church ceremony, flowers with pops of colour, garden games, a cheese tower and rustic touches throughout.

What Made Our Day Unique

We’re guessing most couples don’t change venue five days before their wedding!? What made our wedding unique was that despite the venue disaster, it ended up being completely perfect anyway. We had planned to use a working barn at Freddie’s family farm but due to water damage the weekend before the wedding, we were left without a usable venue. The stars seemed to align for us and we found a beautiful local barn venue that had had a cancellation. Our wedding was very DIY, with a mixture of handmade signage, vintage finds and an abundance of garden flowers.

DIY Wedding Decor

There's no doubt, the bride's mother plays an important role at their daughter's weddings, however, this mother of the bride took it to a whole new level. Investing lots of her time and a whole lot of love into the DIY wedding decor, including sewing tassels onto bunting, making 122 individually stitched personalised napkins, undertaking dress alterations and making the veil from scratch, making it incredibly special! The booze bath, that was leftover from a bathroom refurbishment, and the homemade bar were also lovely DIY touches to the day.

Inspiration & Styling

We wanted a relaxed, whimsical and personal vibe for our wedding day that suited the family farm venue (although we didn’t end up using Freddie’s family barn, the final venue was still a family-run farm that hired out one barn, so it was perfect!). I love vintage, rustic and boho styles and wanted to combine them all in our wedding. There were moments during the planning process that I was worried it might not all work together, but in the end, it united to create a fun, eclectic style that reflected our personalities. There were lots of details to our wedding – some small, like the handmade napkins with monogramming, and some bigger statement pieces, like the gin bar antique dresser and ladder flower installation hanging above the top table. I am also obsessed with flowers and put them wherever I could!

Having to change their wedding venue so last-minute was not ideal, however, luckily everything still looked amazing on the day and our couple were able to find an alternative venue! Sometimes things go wrong and not exactly as expected, so to make things easier for you, we have a podcast episode (here) with Becky and Charlotte, who will chat you through how to make the perfect plan b!
