We’re discussing all things wedding flowers including the wedding flower trends you need to look out for in 2025! When it comes to wedding flowers, no one sets the bar (or raises it) quite like Larry Walshe. Renowned for his ability to transform even the most challenging locations into jaw-dropping floral experiences, Walshe has created magical settings everywhere from deserts to mountainsides.
So, naturally, we turned to Walshe to uncover the top wedding flower trends for 2025. From statement ceremony flowers to inventive sustainability, Walshe proves why he’s the florist every couple wants on speed dial. Who better to predict the future of wedding flowers than the man who can turn mountaintops into magical floral escapes?
We spoke to celebrity wedding florist, Larry Walshe, about all things wedding flower trends for 2025! Walshe said, “We are noticing a real shift of focus in 2025 where wedding ceremonies are truly becoming the star of the show. As we move into 2025 and start planning for the year ahead, we are seeing couples keen to emphasise the ceremony area, creating large and impactful statements that offer each guest an unforgettable experience.” It’s easy to understand why this works so well when statement altar floral arrangements make for incredible wedding photos! What a way to frame your first kiss!
Ceremony flowers used to take a backseat to table centrepieces and the wedding reception area, a reasonable focus, considering most couples spend just an hour in the ceremony space before moving on to an entire afternoon and evening at the dining tables. However, Walshe notes a shift: couples are increasingly recognising how stunning altar and aisle arrangements can set the stage and mood for the entire wedding day.
The celebrity wedding florist says, “We are noticing that couples are keen to see a sense of movement and fluidity as we move away from heavily structured and compact arrangements into more expressive and gestural installations.” So prepare for 2025 weddings to be all about embracing a more natural and wild look!
Finally, Larry Walshe also predicts that, in the same ways most couples will opt for an outfit change in the evening, couples are also opting for more flowers! “A traditional floral arch is still a popular choice, but now we see couples requesting 3 or 5 of them instead of just one!” You heard it here first: quiet maximalism is in for 2025!
As we pointed out earlier, more natural flower arrangements are in, so Walshe points out, “As we move into floral designs which have a greater sense of movement and expression, we begin to lean away from compact arrangements layered with massed blooms. Tight, tailored mounds or floral arches filled with standard roses are now being replaced by looks which have more fluidity and a greater sense of bringing the outdoors inside.”
At Rock My Wedding, we’ve always adored pampas grass, but Larry Walshe points out an exciting shift in the flower industry’s eco-conscious approach. “We’re moving away from dried materials,” he explains, “and opting for fresh-cut stems instead. Plants are also proving popular to create large statements in a manner which is re-useable and environmentally aware.”
So, with that in mind, how can you make more sustainable and eco-conscious decisions around your wedding flowers?
Larry Walshe says, “Speak with your florist or wedding designer and explain that making more sustainable or eco-friendly choices is important to you. Allow them to share their experience and offer ways in which you can achieve this look whilst being mindful.
Do be prepared to be open to their suggestions and advice as this may involve adjusting some of your initial ideas slightly or following a different design path altogether. Certain looks lend themselves particularly well to this style of floristry; organic, open, garden-inspired looks with gestural moments, in particular.”
Shopping for locally grown and reusing certain flower arrangements and moving them around the venue for the day is also more sustainable. It’s all in the little decisions you make!
It’s easier than you may think! The celebrity florist says, “Our top recommendation when considering the look and feel of your own wedding, is to design with your environment in mind in order to make what you create appear even larger and more impressive. Use your background, the canvas of the venue, and the colour and texture of the plants already in the garden to work with you and enhance your look. Your guests won’t know which areas were already there and which elements you have added, all they will know is that it looks incredible!”
Top Tip
Flowers are expensive so if achieving the “look” is important to you above all else, then do portion a healthy budget towards décor as a whole (florals, rentals, production). We would typically advise clients to allocate between 40-60% of the overall wedding budget in order to realise a meaningful transformation.

Now, besides all the top trends for the coming year and all the ways you can achieve those looks, we wanted to ask Larry Walshe some general top tips every couple should know! Including how far in advance you should reach out to your floral designer and Larry’s ultimate favourite flower for weddings!
1. How far in advance should couples start planning their wedding flowers, especially for large-scale weddings?
It is best to talk to your floral designer around a year before the wedding! It seems like a long time but when putting together a large-scale project you have to take into account establishing a team and the planning process as a whole. This will also help your wedding planner think through all the tiny details and make your wedding unforgettable. Walshe says, “It is in these moments, the small considered touches, that we really have the opportunity to capture your personality and create a setting which is totally unique to you as a couple. This is the really fun bit!”
2. How do you handle challenges such as ensuring fresh flowers for destination weddings or handling last-minute changes?
Handling last-minute challenges is what Larry considers to be “the secret to being an expert florist”! Every flower, bloom and plant has its own unique personality and making sure you know them and how they react in different conditions is the key. Sourcing flowers at the right time to make sure they’re at their peak for the wedding day is a total art form.
3. Which flower varieties do you think are timeless and work well for any wedding season?
It’s no surprise to us that Larry Walshe himself picked roses! The celebrity florist claims, “Roses are an eternal choice and one of our all-time favourite flower varieties. They are available year-round with an endless rainbow of colours to select from. Roses are also grown in large quantities, enabling you to realise the most abundant of looks with ease.”

“If you feel that a destination wedding is for you, our top piece of advice is to hire a wedding designer or florist with an adept and established reputation. Their experience may mean you invest a little more, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. They will be ideally positioned to make or accommodate last-minute changes that may occur. They will be experienced enough to have sourced the best produce for your surroundings at the correct moment to ensure everything you have discussed is realised in the most beautiful way possible on your wedding day.”
Larry Walshe
Ever wondered how you can become a celebrity wedding florist? We interviewed Larry Walshe about how he established himself and where the success all came about…
“I originally trained in interior design and have always liked to consider I have a creative eye but in my early twenties, I found myself rather conflicted as I worked through the various possible career paths and realised many artistic avenues (like painting) were not for me. I began working for a leading catering company in London and my eyes were opened to the scale and possibilities within the luxury events industry. After several years of learning to deliver large-scale projects, I found myself somewhat frustrated by the level of design service that was being offered by other florists.
Unable to find it, I decided that if I felt I could do it better, I should put my money where my mouth was and start doing it myself. After attending a professional floristry course with absolutely no idea what I was doing, I handed in my notice to my employer and took the leap to start my own business. I learnt most of what I know through practical application. Working alongside some of the finest artisans in the industry, we have taught each other much of what we apply today.
Over the last decade, we became the first brand in the UK to be considered event designers and now, are the only floral and event design company in the world to be located in three global regions with a truly international reach and capacity.”
