Sophia & William's theme for their at-home tipi wedding was ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream: English Garden Edition’. The couple had a church ceremony but not everything about it was traditional. Sophia broke tradition with her stunning pastel-coloured floral wedding dress whilst the groom wore a traditional morning suit. For their at-home tipi wedding breakfast, they had a traditional sit-down meal, but Tuscan sharing platters were served for more casual dining by the amazing Recommended Supplier, Kemp & Kemp Catering. The wedding day was a total reflection of the couple with and without traditions! Sophia & William said, “We loved our wedding being naturally, authentically us, full of colour, from the stationery, to the flowers, to the food, to the wedding dress and to the friends and family we had around us.” The couple chose Recommended Supplier, The Wedding Present Company, for their gift list.
I knew I was never going to wear a white wedding dress, I love colour way too much. My dress was the first dress I tried on and it was always the one. My mum and sister came with me and we all agreed very quickly it was perfect for me and was absolutely “my wedding dress”. I am having it shortened so I can wear it again – I loved wearing it so much and given it’s so colourful I wouldn’t dream of it sitting in a box for the rest of my life!
Sophia & William
The theme that Sophia & William decided on for their garden wedding was, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream: English Garden Edition’. The couple always wanted their wedding to be at their family home, and for it to be a really inclusive, colourful, and fun few days. The outdoor element of the tipis, combined with the setting of hosting it in the field across from Sophia’s parent’s house and all the colours, achieved this. The bridesmaids also matched the whimsical look with their ivory Ghost bridesmaid dresses, and flower crowns and bouquets bursting with colour. After their traditional church ceremony, they travelled by horse and carriage (of course) to their reception. Sophia & William had 180 guests with a feast of Tuscan-style sharing platters.
Sophia has a prosthetic implant in her right leg from an osteosarcoma (bone cancer) that she had as a teenager. Sophia decided to make a bridal speech where she spoke on this and her love story with William, which made everyone cry. Sophia even sang at the evening reception with the band! The wedding was a two-day event with every colour of the rainbow throughout our venue, outfits and flowers! The whole day was perfectly true to the couple and they loved hosting on the second day with all their family and friends, especially since some guests had travelled from Australia to be there. One of Sophia & William’s favourite moments of the wedding day was sneaking off together to the top of the hill to watch all their guests dancing and singing at the top of their lungs.
I wanted to give a HUGE shoutout to Lucca Studios for our magnificent stationery – Laura took the brief of ethereal, colourful to the limits and produced everything we needed from save the dates, invitations, menus, welcome sign, table plans and they were all pieces we will cherish forever. The invites were divine and everyone I know has said how unique and beautiful they were.
