Sam & Tom planned a whole weekend wedding in just 8 months. If you’re not impressed by that fact alone, you will be when you see their red and pink theme wedding. The bridal party wore pink mismatched bridesmaid dresses with some from Recommended Supplier, Rewritten Bridesmaids. They chose bright flowers and played upbeat songs throughout to capture the love and positivity they were feeling. Sam & Tom have been together for 12 years and wanted to spend a weekend with all their loved ones to celebrate the long-awaited wedding. Coincidentally, the couple also had 12 tables, which they numbered after each year Sam & Tom have been together with a photo of them from that year. The couple found Halton Grove, a beautiful outdoor space set in the Northumberland countryside and instantly knew it was the one. The fun, romance and emotion of the day were captured by the amazing Recommended Supplier, Magda K Photography. Plus, that incredible confetti shot is thanks to confetti from Recommended Supplier, Flutter, Darlings!
My dad passed away when I was 6 and a few weeks before the wedding we visited his grave and I cheekily asked him for one present - nice weather. Luckily, he must have been listening as the day started overcast but we got to have our outdoor wedding - our guests said that as we said our vows the sun broke through the clouds and, for the rest of the day, we had glorious sunshine and blue skies (albeit a little chilly!).
Sam
Sam & Tom celebrated their wedding over a weekend at Halton Grove. On Friday, the couple had a pizza and poker night with close family and friends. Saturday was the wedding day, and on Sunday they had an Easter egg hunt on the grounds since it was Easter Sunday! Sam is half-Filipino, half-Irish, so as a nod to my Filipino heritage, the wedding cake had layers of ube and mango. To celebrate her Irishness, Sam, Tom & their guests drank the bar dry of Baby Guinness shots (mostly thanks to Sam's brother!). The actual wedding day had a vibrant colour scheme of red and pink, which was reflected in the flowers, candles, wedding stationery, bridesmaid dresses, Tom's suit and even Sam’s wedding shoes, which were gorg metallic pink Loeffler Randal platforms. To suit their needs, Sam & Tom knew they wanted a venue that offered exclusive weekend use and Halton Grove ticked their boxes.
“My biggest wedding regret is not making reserved seating signs during the ceremony. Definitely make sure that you reserve the front-row seats for your nearest and dearest – you can thank me later! For grooms and groomsmen – remove your phones and wallets from your pockets for pretty pictures. Brides – if like me you didn’t have a handbag, give your lipstick, makeup, perfume and deodorant to your bridesmaids so you can top up during the day and so you (or your bridesmaids) don't have to run back to your room! At the end of your day, unwind by running a bath and rundown your favourite moments of the day – credit for this tip goes to one of my best friends who did this at her wedding!”
“My favourite moment was walking down the aisle in my beautiful dress from Grace Loves Lace (I wish I could have worn it all weekend) and finally getting married to Tom, a moment I had been thinking about for a long time! My second favourite moment was seeing everyone's reactions to the singing waiters we'd hired - shoutout Waiter Surprise! They were absolutely brilliant, truly incredible singers and it prevented the "lull" you usually get after eating a large meal. After they'd performed, the party was well and truly started!”
For the ceremony, Sam & Tom picked a reading each. Sam picked A Vow by Wendy Cope and Tom asked one of his best friends to do a reading. His friend wrote us a beautiful poem that was so lovely. The wedding breakfast entry song was Kool & The Gang's ‘Celebration’. The couple asked their brothers to be flower boys. They had bumbags filled with confetti and confetti canons for full effect. Sam & Tom’s first dance song was ‘Baby I’m Yours’ by The Arctic Monkeys. They’re Tom’s favourite band and the slow dance style was perfect for a first dance!
We always knew it would be the happiest day and weekend of our lives, so we wanted to make sure we could do the best job in making it one of the happiest days for other people too.
