Happy New Year’s Eve! When a wedding brief calls for colour, disco vibes, and a splash of spontaneous shoe decisions, you know it’s going to be a good one, and, of course, it’s perfect to share for some New Year’s sparkle. For Jodie & Oliver, pinks, reds, and oranges took centre stage, with the industrial venue transformed by a cascade of streamers by Recommended Supplier, Streamadelica, draping the ceiling like a technicolour dream. Oh, and did someone say disco balls? The venue had one already, but these two weren’t stopping there. Extra disco balls sparkled their way onto the scene, perched proudly by the table plan and welcome signs, turning the whole place into a joyful nod to Studio 54. Of course, this incredible day was captured by the one and only Recommended Supplier, Mirl & Co!
I [Jodie] work in weddings myself at a barn venue, but we knew we wanted to do something different. Choosing Trafalgar Warehouse helped make our wedding unique! It was different to any wedding our guests had been to, and we loved that! It was so fun to decorate and add our touch to a black canvas.
Jodie
Amidst the streamers, sparkles, and stylish chaos, Jodie & Oliver carved out a quiet highlight of the day. Post-ceremony, they snuck away for a moment just for the two of them. Rum and cokes in hand, they sat down to chat about the wildness of the night before, the excitement of that morning, and everything in between. After a whirlwind of set-up and prep, this was the first time they’d seen each other, so a little ‘debrief’ was more than earned. They even managed to snap a film photo on a timer to create a candid memento. With vibrant colour, disco magic, and those small, personal moments that make weddings unforgettable, this day was incredible…complete with a hint of rum.
Jodie had one non-negotiable: coloured wedding shoes. She searched the depths of Vinted and still didn’t make the final call until the morning of the wedding. We love a last-minute wildcard. Meanwhile, Oliver kept things sleek and cool in a black cord suit that paired perfectly with silver metallic bridesmaid dresses, which made all those pops of colour look even brighter. The dress was another secondhand treasure. Determined to keep things sustainable, the bride knew she wanted a pre-loved gown. After a long search, she stumbled across the one. After whittling her options down to two contenders, she sent both to her bridesmaids for their opinions, but here’s the kicker: she didn’t reveal which one she’d chosen until the morning of!
Enjoy the planning process, and put time aside at least one evening a week in the lead-up to the wedding to help stop getting overwhelmed! But don't get too caught up in the tiny details, more often than not, your guests won't notice as they're just looking at the bigger picture. Spend time together and do it to please yourselves, not others!
