Inspired by iconic fairytales like Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty, Natalie & Trevor tied the knot on a snowy winter’s day surrounded by their loved ones at an incredible cathedral in the USA. Describing their wedding theme as a ‘gothic garden’, the couple decorated their venue in contrasting black and white to really create the luxury gothic ambience. They had black candles, white drapery, and white flowers, including beautiful angel trumpet flowers behind the sweetheart table. With vintage touches throughout the day from the retro wedding cake to the 1930s wedding veil, we’re obsessed with all the details of this day.
Our biggest advice would be to accept help. We thought we could do everything ourselves, and didn’t want to burden anyone with tasks. But people do want to help! They are there for you. Your friends and family love and support you so don’t be afraid to ask an opinion, request a favour, or even have someone place a late-night McDonald’s order for you at the reception!

Natalie & Trevor describe the ambience of their wedding as a ‘gothic garden’. The couple said the day was “Sleeping Beauty personified”. Natalie wanted deep, rich elements to contrast with soft white drapery. For decor, they opted for single-bud vase flowers because they looked romantically forlorn but still sculptural en masse. Natalie found beautiful angel trumpet flowers to decorate their sweetheart table. Vintage Schiaparelli fonts and illustrations also inspired the design choice of the couple’s menus and other stationery throughout the wedding. The menus also matched the 1930s vintage bow veil that Natalie found and used as a tablecloth for the sweetheart table (yay, multipurpose!).
Trevor has Indigenous/Latin ancestry so the couple had a Catholic ceremony, and it was so special to join together in the covenant and sacrament of marriage together in such a stunning cathedral. Natalie & Trevor wrote their own vows (on custom cards that looked like cathedral windows) and read them on the morning of the wedding, separately. Natalie & Trevor also entwined pearls onto grapes for the tablescape, cut their own silk flowers, and went to resale shops and Home Depot to customise their very own gothic gate and adorn the space with personal, unique touches. Plus, with pieces from Vivienne Westwood, Miu Miu, Clio Peppiatt, and Vera Wang, the fashion and styling is gorgeous!
Our favourite moment of the day was seeing everyone amidst the candlelight—talking, smiling, laughing and the haze of our favourite faces before us.
