Devonshire Terrace Wedding With Foliage Decor & Two Piece Bridal Gown

Photography by Kirsty Mackenzie Photography
A relaxed, and love-filled courtyard wedding at Devonshire Terrace followed by a beautiful reception with lots of personal DIY touches. Creating a relaxed celebration was extremely important for this couple as they wanted the wedding to be a party for their guests so that they could all let go and enjoy themselves. White flowers and foliage dressed the venue to create a softness to the courtyard and made for an amazing aisle backdrop at this spring wedding. Sarah wore a stunning Halfpenny London top layered with a romantic bespoke skirt and a classic veil, the groom and his groomsmen all looked very dapper with Andy opting for a statement green suit. All in all a perfect day topped off with some special moments wondering around London together all captured by Kirtsy Mackenzie Photography.

What Made Our Day Unique

Having it in East London near to where we met and live was important and the Devonshire Terrace captured the essence of the city we fell in love in. Sadly, a couple of years ago my Dad passed away and rather than worrying about who was going to fill his shoes I decided to walk myself down the aisle and my amazing bridesmaids did a speech. We also made all of the wedding stationery, including individual place settings with menus, welcome sign and seating plan. Whilst taking our couple shots we sat on a bench at the opposite end of the venue. It gave us the best vantage point of our wedding and it was amazing to see all our friends and family celebrating our special day and also gave us a moment to take it all in. Another moment that stood out was the speeches, rather than have them read during dinner we moved it into the bar area to create a more intimate, relaxed atmosphere. The images Kirsty was able to capture of this moment are some of our favourite pictures of our loved ones from the day.

Devonshire Terrace

Devonshire Terrace is a London wedding venue that has a brilliant glass roof high over the courtyard meaning that whatever the weather, the wedding can be outside and offer a little slice of heaven. As Sarah and Andy met and fell in love in East London it was really important for the couple to tie the knot there and this venue perfectly captured their love for the city and its greenery. Bloomantic Wedding Florist created the white floral bouquets which were so beautiful. Also, the amazing flower wall sat at the top of the aisle from Kent Flower Walls which was very in keeping with the theme. Sarah and Andy wanted to keep their supplier picks as local as possible and so opted for their favourite baker Lily Vanilli Bakery to make them their delicious gold detailed wedding cake.

Inspiration & Styling

We love having friends and family over for parties and wanted our wedding to retain that same essence. We wanted people to feel that they were coming to an occasion but really relax, let go and enjoy themselves. Our inspiration was London, we love the architecture of the city and the pockets of greenery. The courtyard of the venue really captured this for us and to add softness we added lots of white flowers, foliage, candles and hues of soft greys.

Advice & Planning

Remain authentic! It's easy to get pulled in different directions during wedding planning and you can quickly loose sight of what you wanted your wedding to feel/ look like. Take the time to consider your suppliers and really hunt out the best people that sit in line with your own personalities and outlooks for your wedding.
