Vicky & Phil

Photography by Albert Palmer Photography
Lets just take a moment to appreciate the beauty that is Almonry Barn where this gorgeous couple said I do. The twinkling canopy; the gorgeous surroundings; it's just a little slice of heaven. We love it so much we went on location there for our soon to be released wedding book Your Day Your Way. Vicky and Phil filled the venue with our absolute favourite hue of the moment, blush. Giving a dreamy romantic look to the rustic barn. Keeping things ethereal are the bridesmaids in their pink For Her and For Him gowns and Bride Vicky in her off the shoulder Mori Lee bridal gown. Plus the flower arrangements and bouquets are simply divine. Using the softest shades of pink peonies and roses, that will make you gasp they are SO pretty. Get those pinning fingers ready as you're definitely going to want to be reminded of this pretty wedding.

The Wedding

Vicky the Bride: I agonised over my wedding dress... I found her in the third bridal shop I visited and fell in love! The neckline was almost straight and I knew I wanted more of a sweetheart shape. I initially thought I wanted to add something to the waistband which was tulle and quite simple. I spent hours surfing Etsy and the like, looking at so many beautiful belts, I went to try on my dress so many times trying to decide but I never found anything that was quite right. In the end I decided that I didn’t need to add anything and I’m so glad I didn’t! I always knew I would wear a flower crown for our wedding; I love the boho look and will wear a headband any opportunity I get! The only jewellery I wore was my engagement ring and diamond stud earrings which my Granny gave me for my 18th birthday present – these were my ‘something old’.

Beauty

My hair was styled by Victoria of Victoria’s Hair Design as well as the bridesmaids. Victoria is amazeballs!! And such a great girl to have with you on the morning of your wedding. We had a blast.

Grooms Attire

Phil was such a perfect Groom and pretty much just let me have everything I wanted and he’s so gorgeous he looks good in anything. He wore a blue three-piece Ted Baker suit with pink paisley print Ted Baker tie and pocket square.

The Venue

When choosing our venue we narrowed it down to 3; Almonry Barn was the last that we visited. As soon as you walk into Almonry Barn it kind of takes your breath away, it is so dreamy. Phil is a carpenter and loves old buildings and the history that goes with them. We both loved it and the other contenders just faded away and we had to have our wedding there.

Colour Scheme/Decor

I had always wanted a bouquet of pale pink roses and peonies so this decided the colour scheme of blush pink. I’m not a fan of having a wedding ‘theme’ but I channelled rustic luxe when deciding about decor. The barn is pretty perfect and didn’t need too much decor. We hung wicker love hearts in the tree above the ice-cream cart. Phil popped the question in lipstick on a mirror so our table plan was written in lipstick! Our wedding favour was a CD for the guests with songs played on our Wedding Day and also some of our favourites.

Flowers

I love flowers so they were really important to me. My favourite flowers are pale pink peonies and roses so it wasn’t a difficult decision choosing which flowers I wanted! I love the grey tone foliage so eucalyptus was featured in the bouquets. A family friend did our flowers for us. As you can see she is fantastic and we can’t thank her enough for all her hard work! Lesley you are amazing! Lesley isn’t a florist; it’s just a hobby and as I wanted a lot of flowers, the fiddly bits; my flower crown, all the buttonholes and our Mums thank you bouquets were done by Cottage Flowers. Each table had a large arrangement surrounded by a variety of mercury glass candlesticks and tealights. The table names and numbers matched our wedding invitations.

The Wedding Party Fashion

My girls wore blush pink tulle bridesmaid dresses from For Her and For Him with pink roses and sprigs of rosemary in their hair. They wore gold Grecian style shoes from Debenhams. The boys and our Dads all matched Phil in Ted Baker. Their shoes were a bargain from Deichmann.

Ceremony

We had a local folk singer, Jemima Farey, sing and play the guitar for our ceremony. Jemima learnt three songs that we chose and she sounded beautiful. We had two readings; the first was a poem written and read by the Mother of the Groom. It was about the both of us from when we were born to now. It was so beautiful and got a few tears and laughs! Our second reading was The Wedding Song by Bob Dylan read by my bridesmaid, Emily. We shortened it a little as it’s a song but the words are just perfect.

Entertainment

Our fabulous band were local guys; The Seatrees. They did an acoustic afternoon set in the garden after the ceremony and then later in the evening totally rocked the barn. By the end of the night Phil was crowd surfing and my flower crown was being used as a Frisbee!

Food

The Mother of the Groom made our wedding cake, it was show stopping and she has never made one before! It was delicious; a lemon Madeira cake with lemon buttercream. After the ceremony we had an ice-cream tricycle serving unlimited ice-cream to our guests! We had a buffet for our wedding breakfast prepared by Strawberry Field Catering who are the allocated caters at Almonry Barn. We chose pink topside of beef, baked and glazed ham, mature cheddar and red onion tarte, mini roast potatoes with rosemary and garlic, Indian rice salad, pine nut, chilli and garlic pasta, greek salad and for pudding chocoloate and raspberry roulade and caramel salted cheesecake!

Photographer

Albert photographed my bridesmaid’s wedding in 2013 and as soon as I saw her wedding photographs I knew I wanted Albert when my time came. I made sure he was free before paying the deposit to our venue!! We wanted a relaxed, natural bunch of photos not the stuffy, posed ones and Albert is your guy for this style! He is awesome and I cannot recommend him enough.
