Timeless Romance at Country House West Horsley Place
Rachel Dalton: The inspiration for this shoot came from our venue,
West Horsley Place. There is an undeniable grandeur and charm to this Grade I listed manor house and a historical significance behind it which I wanted to be the focal point of the shoot.
My wedding planning business,
Rachel Dalton Weddings, specialises in country house weddings in the South of England and across the UK, which made West Horsley Place the ideal location for my vision. I was lucky enough to bring together a truly incredible team of suppliers from Dorset, Hampshire, Surrey and London for this styled shoot, and the finished result completely blew me away.
West Horsley Place
The house retains an untouched and fragile beauty, with endless examples of the original character and heritage of its former use. Now working alongside
Rhubarb Catering, the house provides an exclusive and bespoke wedding venue, and you will truly feel spoilt for choice with the options they have available for your wedding day.
Flowers
I was squealing with delight when
Emma Soulsby agreed to create the florals for this shoot, her floral installations truly are the most incredible works of art! West Horsley Place has stunning and ornate fireplaces in almost every room, and we were both keen to create a floral display around one of the fireplaces which is unlike anything people will have seen before.
Emma built a tree (yes - an actual tree!) that framed the fireplace and trailed over the mantel, which provided the most breathtaking backdrop for our table. She also arranged a large vase of flowers for the corner of the room, and an array of small vases to run down our table. The arrangements were made up of an incredible selection of luxury roses, including Juliet, Amnesia, Menta and Quicksand roses. The finished result brought a tear to my eye!
Styling & Details
Wherever possible, I wanted the authenticity of West Horsley Place to feature in our styling, so we used many original pieces of furniture in the shoot, including some gorgeous, ornate gold chairs around our dining room table.
I opted for a romantic, understated colour palette of soft pinks, lilac, green and gold. Luxurious, blush linens from Just 4 Linen provided the perfect backdrop to our elegant gold tableware from
Couvert. The wonderful
Georgina Read Creative completed our table set up with some beautifully luxe velum paper name tags and menus, as well as creating a sophisticated invitation suite.
