Welcome to Susie & Chris’ colourful Crypt On The Green wedding! This wedding was full of love, colour, and dinosaurs! The couple had amazing illustrated dinosaurs on the table name signs that we are so obsessed with. The best part is that they were created by the bride herself! Besides the dinosaurs, having plenty of colour was also important to this couple. With rainbow coloured bridesmaid dresses, bright confetti and vibrant wedding flowers, we can’t look away from this gorgeous day. Of course, the incredible Recommended Supplier, Carrie Lavers Photography, is responsible for these joyful photos and Recommended Supplier, York Place Studios, was on hand for the videography. The couple also chose Recommended Supplier, Prezola, for their gift list.
We wanted the day to feel like us - I love colour and Chris loves dinosaurs, so we combined the two! I illustrated dinosaurs in wedding attire for each table name sign. My dress was embroidered with multicoloured flowers so naturally, I had multicoloured nails and bridesmaids to match!
Susie
It was important to Susie & Chris that the day felt relaxed. The couple wanted everything to feel relevant to them, so that’s why a dry-hire venue like The Crypt On The Green was perfect. Susie & Chris tied the knot in the church above and had the reception in the crypt below. Since the wedding took place in October and the weather is so unpredictable, Susie & Chris liked the idea that no one had to travel far between two venues. During the ceremony, Susie’s brother, Freddie, read an extract from Winnie the Pooh which had the whole congregation reaching for the tissues and Chris’ aunt, Lizzie, read a beautiful extract from the bible, Song of Solomon 2:10-13. They finished their ceremony with an epic confetti exit! Susie & Chris recommend buying enough confetti for TWO handfuls per person!
The multicoloured flowers decorating the venue were influenced by Susie’s floral embroidered wedding dress and were hung from the amazing arched ceiling, and balcony and dotted down the trestle tables. Susie illustrated all the stationery herself and her mum, Claudia, and mother-in-law, Catherine, grew gourds for each place setting! The wedding breakfast was their favourite meal - bangers and mash! A staple! Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple had a tower of cupcakes and cookies which went down a treat. After dinner, a ceilidh band! If you’re worried about the dance floor not being full, consider doing a ceilidh. No one can dance in a ceilidh and not smile. It’s also great for those who are shy about busting some moves, as you’re being told what to do!
My favourite moment of the day was the ceremony itself. We had my old Religious Studies teacher (and school chaplain) marry us. What made this particularly special was that he was there the day we met too. Little did we know as 2 awkward 13-year-olds standing at opposite ends of the sports hall, that 15 years later the teacher supervising this travesty of a disco, would be the one to marry us!
