What Made Our Day Unique
Mainly, we have an amazing group of family and friends of all ages and our suppliers were great. The people really make it! I'm an Illustrator and my husband is a Cinematographer so we both work in the creative industry and wanted a wedding that really reflected us and our style. Most of my work has the exact colour scheme that our wedding ended up being and we both love space, our dog Lyra is named after a constellation so it seemed like an ideal 'theme’. We basically curated everything to be completely us, from the Japanese food to the peonies, these really are ALL of our favourite things. I'm a big feminist too so had to make sure our wedding promoted equality, I made sure I did a speech and both my parents walked me down the aisle. We really just wanted everyone to have a good time and keep everyone entertained throughout the day!Rachael & Max
Inspiration & Styling
The vibe was somewhere between contemporary and boho. I basically wanted everything I saw on Pinterest and in my Rock My Wedding book and refused to compromise on anything so spent hours sourcing the most cost-effective items or figuring out how I could make them myself! It was really important to us that everyone was included, whatever age and whatever food preferences! I couldn't resist branding our wedding either, which went across stationery, website, newspaper and hand-painted signage. We hand-painted stars onto table runners and sewed them up, I made the planet coasters/place names and sewed the kid's chair.Rachael & Max
If you are a bride and, like Rachael, want to make a speech at your wedding then don't be afraid, Becky and Charlotte bring you a podcast episode dedicated to bride's speeches! They cover how to be confident in yourself to do your own and some of the things you can talk about too. There’s also a little bit in there for your bridal party too in case they are planning on saying a few words.
