WOW! If you want to talk about incredible wedding venues, getting married at Peterborough Cathedral is right up there! Melanie & Dominic had a beautiful spring wedding with plenty of purple wedding flowers and nods to Melanie's French heritage. They had guests come all the way from France for their classic and traditional style wedding. On hand to capture this special day was a friend of the couple and Recommended supplier, Alice Cunliffe Photography.
Focus on what makes you happy, everyone will have an opinion but at the end of the day, it's about the two of you! Book the week off before the big day if you can, as it can get rather manic. Most importantly don't forget to spend the day together.
Melanie & Dominic
Melanie & Dominic's day was all about them and their families. As Dominic's dad passed away in 2018 and his favourite colour was purple, the couple wanted to incorporate this element into the day with purple wedding flowers. It tied in perfectly with all the lovely spring colours. Melanie loves flowers so that also played into the decision. It was important to the couple to keep some aspects traditional because of where the ceremony was taking place. This classic and traditional style was the inspiration behind the Suzanne Neville wedding dress. Mel's French heritage was also incorporated into the decor, music and shoes!
Well, it’s not every day you get the opportunity to get married in a cathedral! It is just gorgeous! Being able to have the ceremony where Dominic spent his youth as a chorister was special to him and his family. When the choir sang in the cathedral it was absolutely breathtaking. The French side of the family travelled in for the day and it was amazing to see that, despite a few language barriers, all the family had a great time together. Overall, it was a lot of the little details that just came together on the day and made it special for Melanie & Dominic, like that incredible doughnut wall at the cathedral.
One of the moments that stood out to both of us was the time spent with Alice taking our couple photos around the cathedral following the ceremony. We got to indulge in what had just happened and where. Of course, we can't forget the best men's speech which was actually performed by the three (yes, three) best men who did it in both English and French! The choir in the cathedral was incredible as was the band at the reception.
